Actually Infected 2025: 02. RIP/Tear

Entry 2 is mini animatic of After All, sung by Christine Ebersole! I've thought about this song for Luna and Crescent for a while now, and I honestly doubt I'll ever make a full animatic. So it all just exists in my head. But this pair tears me apart so I figured it was fitting. <3

After All is such a good song. Not to Death Of The Author, but I really enjoy how you can make this song fit whatever view you want for it. In the context of Crescent, I imagine it from a major Postpartum Depression and Generational Trauma lens.

Crescent was told all her life that she would have to have a child at some point, not just for an "heir", but also because she's a woman. Her own relationship with her mother was far from affectionate. And I think a part of her wanted to love her child, prove that such a simple task wasn't so hard. But here she was, an emotionally stunted woman with a screaming stranger in her arms. It wasn't Luna's fault, she figured. But she just. Couldn't bring herself to love her. Not the way she thought she was supposed to. It leads to their distant relationship in the future, and if I ever actually sit down and write a story about them. I hope they both manage to heal and learn to love eachother in the way they can.
