Hey #Cressonii, can you take a nice photo for our social media before you go to your new home? Cress: Hold my beer. Sigh lol. I made the decision to rehome Cress on a breeding contract to his retirement home early. Given his ineptitude as a stud and us needing the hams out of our home with the move it seemed a good choice. Hopefully in a few months he will be a bit wiser and we will get some pups from him! In my adventures yesterday I also picked up Royal from @theburrowhamstery. My thinking too was as Royal is now a proven stud, it would make more sense to use him as opposed to Cress - at least right now. I am still trying to breed however on a very reduced scale and using satellite off-site homes. So Royal will hang out with me to breed to Bretty if she goes into heat, and then hopefully head to @mr.saddlebagshams to help out there. Today is #WorldBeeDay and I had to share this cute photo of #Cressonii in our bee costume with our amazing nesting box from @cloverlinehamstery! I can't wait to unpack it at the new house. I look forward to planting a pollinator garden in our new home and filling the backyard with veggies and herbs. I can't wait to see all the friendly bees visiting our home. Clearly #Cressonii didn't get the memo about having nice ears. He chose to follow his momma and get the flappiest of ears possible 😂. Oh well - it's good to have something to work on! It has been a busy day here at SBH. This morning I got my flu shot which was a bit unexpected but is great! Hamdad and I practice evidence based care for the hamsters, but also for ourselves too. I give you the pinnacle of my photography hobby. This is the best photo I may have taken ever. It is phenomenal and deserves to be printed as a mural to hang on our wall.

#Cressonii had me absolutely howling as I was photographing him. I'm so glad I got this shot. It has me in stitches. Hamsters are the best 😂

This fluffy boy is not the sharpest stick in the forest (though he found it and is taking it home as you can see). Poor #Cressonii is sweet and adorable but not a genius by any means 😂 I often joke that my hamsters aren't particularly clever, and to be fair, most aren't (with the exception of a few who are far too clever for their own good). Cress though might take the current award though 😂. I've been trying to breed Cress for the past few weeks. Most males, while inexperienced, eventually figure it out. Cress...? Not so much. While he at times did sort out which end was which (LPT: always avoid the pointy end of the female, Cress) he was far too easily distracted. A bin? A bin low enough I can climb out? A human who loves me and gives me snackies? Who needs the nice lady! Well, Cress got fired and replaced with Theodore. 😂🤦‍♀️ Hope to try him again in the future when he's a bit older with Elvis. Hopefully by then he'll have gained one or two smarts and be able to focus more. Oh well. What he lacks in brain cells he makes up for in sheer cutes, sweetness and photogenics.
