OMG I LOVED YOUR KIND TOUCH SERIES! Do you think you could write something about a wlw where the hero is the touch starved one and the villain notices?
I love this idea. I'm so sorry for such a long wait!
Ally winced as she shifted her weight, having momentarily forgotten about the wound on her ankle. The hero had been trying, - and failing, it seemed- to not let her injuries show.
That was before said ankle gave out underneath her, and her knee hit the concrete below.
"What's going on with you, hero?" The villain asked, almost accusingly. Her weapon dropped to her side as she took a step forward, fighting stance long gone.
The hero opened her mouth to reply, some snappy witticism, but instead nearly choked on another hiss of pain.
Okay, she may have been a tad more injured than she'd thought.
"You had that cut the last time I saw you. Why haven't you had anyone treat it?" The villain asked as she gestured to the freshly bleeding gash on the hero's leg.
Well... because it wasn't that easy for the hero. Especially when your superpower was acid touch, which made everyone, even doctors, afraid to touch her. Despite the fact the hero could usually control it perfectly, the one time she couldn't control it just so happened to be when she was injured. Broken skin became acidic, eating away at stitches, bandages, wraps and clothing.
Not that there were any doctors brave enough to treat her wounds in the first place.
The hero gave in, crumbling under her own weight to the ground below. The lacerations across her back stung.
"You win this round, just... just go..." Ally managed to grit out. She had reopened the wound when her knee hit the concrete and she could feel the acid starting to form.
The villain narrowed her eyes, looking over the hero before her like she was working out a puzzle.
Ally opened her mouth to say something, but was cut off by the villain's eyes darting down. The hero followed her gaze to see the fabric over a different cut on her stomach (one she'd been ignoring) had finally eaten through the bandages shed haphazardly covered it with and had since moved on to her shirt.
"Damn it," Ally muttered under her breath.
"Your injuries trigger your acid," The villain stated.
"Thank you, captain obvious," The hero grit out she pulled her leg up toward her chest to try and hide her stomach, but the new position only served to show her leg more.
"I thought you were immune to your own acid?" The villain asked in confusion.
Ally surveyed the villain in front of her. She had sheathed her knife and didn't look at all interested in continuing their fight. Her posture was lax, her face confused but she looked genuinely engaged in the conversation nonetheless; not as though simply bideing her time.
With a sigh, the hero flopped back against the cold rooftop, "I am," she replied, "sad to say bandages, clothes, and *doctors* aren't as fortunate,"
In her peripheral vision Ally saw the villain take a few steps forward, now standing close to her feet.
The hero closed her eyes, resting a wrist over her forehead.
"So... doctors *can't*? Or *won't * treat you?"
"Guess," Ally grumbled sarcastically.
Suddenly the hero jolted up at the sudden touch on her leg. It was only gentle, but it ignited her nerves like fire. People didn't just *touch* her. Most were too afraid.
The villain wasn't most people though. Her power was increased regeneration, and while it wasn't instant, it was fast enough to almost negate the effect of Ally's fairly slow working acid.
"How did you even manage to do this?" The villain asked, examining the wound.
The hero just sat frozen, not even realizing she was holding her breath.
The villain glanced up at the lack of response, and whatever expression was on Allys face made the villain squint her eyes, like she was connecting the dots.
"Well well," the villain smirked, though surprisingly softly, "never thought I'd see the day where a *hero* is touch starved,"
Ally immediately lit up bright red.
"I am not! I-"
Her words stuttered to a stop when the villain reached out, gently brushing her hair back and tucking it behind her ear, pointedly dragging a finger across her cheek as she did.
She couldn't help the way she shivered.
The villain merely raised an eyebrow.
Ally looked away. Ashamed or exposed or she wasn't really sure. She heard the villain sigh.
"Alright, come on then," the villain said as she stood up, extending her hand down to the hero, "looks like I'll half to patch you up at my place,"
The hero looked up, shocked, but after a moment of consideration, she took the other's hand.
Ally couldn't bring herself to mention how the villain never let go of her hand the entire way there.
