Human Hero, cursed with regeneration powers, is enslaved to Vampire Villain's coven. Maybe Hero gave themselves up to protect the city. Maybe Hero woke up drained and bleeding in Villain's arms, betrayed by their team "for the good of the people." Maybe, just maybe, Hero hopes that with enough blood loss, they can finally die.

From this prompt pack
Hero staggered into the cave, their clothes soaked through. They collapsed against the cavern wall, breathing heavily. That storm was no joke, it had practically torn their ship in two. They only hoped the rest of the crew had managed to survive. Their hand rested over a gash in their side, red seeping through their chilled fingers. Pink decorated their cheeks as the early stages of a cold settled in their chest.
Hero stared into the pool of water fed by the ocean at the cave mouth. They tilted their head as the pool started to ripple. A scaly face poked their head out from under the surface. Hero stumbled back, reaching for their knife strapped to their thigh.
“You!” Hero shouted weakly, “get away from me!”
The siren, Villain, rose a few more inches out of the water. They looked Hero up and down with their slitted eyes.
“You’re hurt,” Villain said.
“And I bet you just love that, don’t you?” Hero snapped, “bet you’re desperate for a taste of me-”
“Well yes, but not in that way,” Villain smirked.
Hero ignored them, continuing to fuss.
“Bet you just loved watching my ship go down. Bet your little friends had the time of their lives snacking on my crew-my family- you just came here to get the last snack, that’s it, isn’t it!?”
As Hero spoke, tears started to sting their eyes. Their whole crew was probably long gone thanks to the sirens.
“Hero, calm down,” Villain said softly.
They hauled themselves out of the pool and sat at Hero’s side. They gently wiped their tears.
“I called my brethren off,” Villain said, “your crew is fine. They all made it to an island not far from here. I came here to fetch you.”
“Ha,” Hero scoffed, “more like they all made it to Davy Jones’ Locker! Leave me alone, I’m not falling for any of your tricks!”
Hero curled in on themselves, sobbing quietly. Villain took another look at their wound; it looked pretty bad, they needed to treat it, but they got the feeling that Hero wouldn’t let them anywhere near it. Not to mention, they wouldn’t be able to move them with an injury like that.
“Hero, stop, please,” Villain said gently, “if you work yourself up, you’ll make your injury worse. Let me just take a look at it and-”
“No!” Hero shouted, “go away! For the last time!”
Villain bit their lip and sighed. It looked like there was no other way. Villain opened their mouth and started to sing. It was soft and gentle at first, then became a little louder. Hero turned to look at Villain, and their eyes glazed over. Villain beckoned them forward, still singing. Hero crawled over to them, entranced. Villain laid Hero’s head in their lap and started to stroke their hair. They gently closed Hero’s eyes for them. Hero drifted off to the sound of Villain’s song. Once they were sure they were asleep, Villain gently maneuvered Hero back onto the cave floor and got to work.
…
Hero woke up with a start. They felt grains of sand sticking to them, and a soft pressure around their torso. They looked down and saw seaweed wrapped snugly around their wound.
“Hero!”
Hero turned and saw First Mate swiftly approaching them. They bent down and hugged them, careful not to aggravate their injury.
“We were so worried about you,” First Mate said, “when Villain’s sirens brought us here, no one could find you. We thought that you- well, it doesn’t matter. Villain found you and brought you back.”
Hero’s mind was racing. Villain was telling the truth? The last thing they remembered was yelling at them to go away… how did they bring them here? Villain watched the reunion from a safe distance. Their Hero was safe, and that was all that mattered.
tw: blood, forced blood drinking, strangulation, death (but not permanent)
Hero’s footsteps thundered against the floor, their breathing sharp and wheezy in their ear. They tossed a frantic glance behind their shoulder, seeing nothing but the blur of forest trees and crooked branches.
Their thoughts were running wild. I’m gonna die. I’m gonna die. I need to keep running. I can’t stop.
The air was crisp and harsh as it bit into their skin, the rush of adrenaline spiking when a harsh snap resounded through the air. Before they could respond, something hard smashed into their side, and they were sent plummeting to the ground.
A sharp cry of pain escaped their lips, dirt and twigs digging into their raw skin. A knee pressed into their back, crushing their ribs with inhuman strength.
“You’re a fast one,” a voice snickered, and the knee lifted, before they were roughly thrown onto their back, and the pressure returned as if it had never left. “But not fast enough.”
Hero began thrashing in pure panic, seized by an unforgiving terror. “Let me go! Let me—”
Their fists pounded against the figures chest, but were quickly ceased when fingers wrapped around their wrists, and crushed them into the floor beneath them. Hero wriggled and twisted as the grip tightened, to the point where they were sure their bones would shatter.
The figure cooed, leaning down so their lips were hovering above their face. “You humans are so intelligent, yet you act so dumb.”
Hero’s eyes began to sting with hot tears, groaning in pain when the villain tightened their hold on their wrists.
“I caught you. That means I’m not going to let you go.”
Hero began kicking their legs widely, pleas blubbering on their lips. “Please, please, just leave me alone.” They sobbed, choking on their own breath. “I-I won’t tell anybody, I swear.”
The villain chuckled darkly in response, their eyes glowing a deep red under the shimmering moonlight. Hero whimpered at the terrifying sight, squeezing their eyes shut and turning their head to the side. Villain brought their wrist to their mouth, tearing the skin with their sharp fangs, some blood staining their lips.
Hero’s heart began hammering, legs dragging in the dirt and leaving a mess of sprayed mud and leaves.
“I was debating whether or not I should tear your neck out and drain you dry,” the villain whispered, tilting their head to the side as they admired their wounds, and the crimson blood sliding down their arm. “But I very much prefer you alive, writhing underneath me.”
The hero sobbed, shaking their head from side to side. Villain shushed them, a sickly sweet sound, and pressed their open wound to Hero’s mouth. Their eyes flew open in terror, but the villain was much stronger, and much more relentless.
“Drink.”
Hero’s tears fell down their cheeks, as well as Villain’s fresh blood dribbling from their lips, forced around the wound. Their chest convulsed, and an awful gagging sound came from them, but the villain didn’t let up, and only forced their wrist further against their mouth.
Hero could feel the liquid sliding down their throat, invading their senses with that awful metallic taste. Their legs went still, closed fists shaking as they hesitantly let the blood fall down their throat, finding no other option. The villain hummed in delight, their lips curled into a grin.
“There you go, my darling, just like that…”
Their eyes fluttered shut, trying to imagine themselves anywhere else, to dispel the disgusting feeling of warm blood pooling in their stomach. They could feel their body trembling all over, a tingling sensation accompanied with it, right under their skin.
Villain’s hands were tangled in their hair a moment later, gently stroking their messy locks. Hero didn’t have the strength to move their arms, a throaty whine bubbling at the back of their throat as the taste overwhelmed them. Villain removed their wrist, gazing down at Hero’s flushed face, and lips coated with fresh blood.
“What...What did you do to me?” They huffed, voice cracking. Villain softly swiped a thumb over their bottom lip, watching as they flinched, yet fell slack with exhaustion not a moment later.
“Making you mine,” Villain grinned, tracing a finger down their cheek. Hero shuddered. “This is going to hurt for a little bit. Don’t fight me, my love. You’ll wake up soon enough.”
Hero wasn’t quite sure what the villain meant until fingers wrapped around their throat, and their airway was instantly cut off. The crushing sensation was merciless as Hero’s eyes grew wide, scratching their nails against Villain’s fingers. They flailed, they thrashed and broke Villain’s skin with their nails, but nothing seemed to deter them.
Hero’s lungs burned with white hot agony, before their vision started going blurry, and they were swallowed by a deathly cold silence.
The hero nearly jumped out of their skin at the sudden noise right behind them.
They were stood on a roof late at night like they usually were, patrolling the city from above. Their feet were on a sloped roof while they were leaned back against a half wall, weight rested on their elbows.
The sudden noise startled them so much their feet slipped, and they may have fallen off the roof entirely if it weren't for the two arms that had immediately wrapped around their stomach, holding them gently yet securely.
"You... have got to stop doing that..." the hero stuttered, catching their breath. The arms around them tightened reassuringly, and the hero couldn't help subconsciously sinking into the touch, having known the second they spoke who it was.
A gentle chuckle thrummed through their ear from behind, making their hair stand up. The villain was sat on the wall behind them, a leg on either side of the hero.
"I can't help it kitten, the sound of your heart is quickly becoming my favourite sound," They purred quietly.
The hero leaned back, resting against the cool figure behind them, trusting the villain to keep them from slipping. They felt the gentle, featherlight and cold kiss against their neck, right on top of their bite scar. The feeling made them shiver.
"All the more reason to stop then," the hero stuttered, breathless for an entirely different reason now, "one of these days, you're going to give me a heart attack,"
The villain chuckled again, a low rumbling noise that made the hero feel all warm inside.
"You're heart is far too healthy to worry about that, don't fret, kitten,"
The villain intertwined their fingers in front of the hero, securing their arms around them, "besides, we both know you enjoy me sneaking up on you just as much as I do," they whispered in a voice that was somehow a mix of infuriatingly knowing, smug, amused and charming.
"Excuse me?!"
The vampire chuckled, "Aw, kitten, there's no reason to be ashamed~, I think it's pretty cute~," they purred, "You stand on rooftops late at night, making sure theirs never a wall behind you despite knowing what's gonna happen,"
The hero swallowed. They could feel the heat crawling down their neck.
Their reaction only amused the vampire behind them more, who laughed again, "you think I hadn't noticed?"
"Shut up," the hero replied, rolling their eyes, causing the other to laugh yet again. Though they obeyed, instead opting to place a kiss at the top of the hero's spine, which sent shivers running through it.
There was a few moments of silence, before the hero could no longer fight their curiosity.
"What about scaring me makes my heart sound so appealing to you?" The hero asked, trying to sound accusatory.
"Mmm," the villain hummed against the hero's neck, vibrations dancing across their skin, causing even more goosebumps to rise. There was another cold kiss pressed beneath their ear.
"It's not the fear I like; it's after that..." they purred, the noise so quiet, low and close to their ear the hero had to resist the urge to squirm. "I love after the fear spike, there's the moment you realize it's me, and your heart does this little fluttery dance. Like a butterfly flapping in the wind,"
That was NOT helping their heart stop fluttering. The hero could feel the villain's cool lips curl into a smirk against their skin.
"Yeah, just like that," the villain teased, sounding damningly amused.
"I think you just like playing me like a violin," the hero accused. Yet despite their words, they found themselves tipping their head to the side to allow the villain more access.
"Mmm... probably,"
The hero felt the villain nip their ear gently, earning them a small gasp. The cool sensation of the other's lips made the hero's toes curl. It didn't help that the more flustered they got, the colder the kisses felt against their skin.
They had spent an increasing amount of time together over the past few weeks, just relaxing and enjoying each other's presence. Nothing too serious, but it was a distraction from their day-to-day lives. The simplicity of no strings attached and just doing whatever felt right in the moment, not overthinking, was something the hero really appreciated. The villain never pushed either. It was just this... thing, that neither of them were in a rush to define.
Suddenly another kiss snapped them out of their thoughts, because this one felt a little too sharp.
"Hey," the hero scolded, "put those fangs away, Mister,"
The villain let out a startled laugh, pulling back slightly as they did.
"You are so much fun, kitten. You know I promised not to bite unless asked,"
"I told you that's never going to happen," the hero reminded.
Or at least, that's what they thought. Eventually, though, the hero would end up doing just that...
