So here they are!

Two very different Lunars. Cringe Lunar is basically the cat Luna from Sailor Moon. Functionally he was just a stray that got exposed to so much of Moonbeam’s ambient magick that it upped his intelligence.

I also devised a new way to make a cat plush.

So I was somehow quite productive today (I made a phone call! I voted! Went for a bike ride! Made a car appointment based on the phonecall!) and I'm choosing to believe that Polaris is the Green Bean of Success or something, soo..

@emhm , I see your plushie posting and *raise you a drabble/blurb about polaris and cringe lunar not long after she was born.

Lunar watched the baby carefully.

It was rare to see the small animatronic child sleeping on her own, as she was always within Sanani and Nisshoku's parental wingspan.

Understandable for a fresh kitten.

Lunar shook his head and rubbed a paw over his face with something that was absolutely not embarrassment (as that was not an emotion that cats ever experienced). He was loathe to admit it, but though he had been granted intelligence above that of a normal animal due to Moonbeam's magick, he still had some animal instincts that sometimes reared their heads. The fact that Polaris was the first baby he had been around for any period of time was making it worse.

His colonymates had had a kitten baby. The kitten baby was currently alone and needed someone to watch her. While the others were off doing whatever it was that horses and two legs made of metal did, he would watch the kitten.

Baby.

Baby baby baby.

Polaris shifted and whined softly in her sleep, and Lunar was instantly alert - ears pricked forward to capture the small sounds. The kitten she sounded unhappy.

He knew that he should probably run and find one of the others to come check on her, but he also didn't want to leave her by herself. What if a predator showed up?

Lunar huffed at the thought. As if anything dangerous could make it far enough inside the plex to hurt the little bean! Still…

He padded closer and noticed that the little green animatronic was trying to burrow further into her blanket.

The instinctual part of his brain lit up immediately. The kitten was cold! The kitten must be warmed!

Ok, fine. He couldn't argue with that.

He didn't have hands to pull the blanket up, but nature saw fit to cover him with a furry blanket of his own, and an internal space heater beside.

He stretched out along the baby on the side where the blanket had slipped, and in a few moments Polaris's fussing had stopped.

Lunar couldn't help purring with happiness as he slow blinked at the sleeping bundle.

He was doing such a good job at being a helpful colony member.

He didn't know when he drifted into a doze, but he woke immediately when he heard a gasp followed by the click of a camera.

"oh my gods, that's the cutest thing"

He craned his neck to see both of Polaris's parents standing in the doorway, with bigger smiles than normal plastered across their faces.

He was halfway through warning them not to post the image anywhere lest he pee on their slippers in revenge, but the warning died in his throat as he felt a small pressure on one paw.

He turned back to see that Polaris was also awake, red on white eyes crinkled into delighted crescents - the small pressure on his paw…her own tiny clawed hand.

It was a good thing that adorability wasn't fatal, or the cat may have passed away right then.

Every remaining negative thing he had worried about Polaris before she was born fled from his thoughts.

It didn't matter that one of her parents was an eclipse. It didn't matter that she probably had more magic than all of the rest of them put together, and someday might transform into a creature hundreds of times his size.

This baby was their family's kitten, and he would do everything in his furry power to keep her safe.

*not really a raise as in a bet, more of a ' Isaw the thing you did and it inspired me to do ANOTHER thing but I'm not expecting you to do anything in return except *hopefully* maybe melt into a goo or explode into rainbows or something because of d'awwww :3
