Spring comes on suddenly
I mean, I know it's April and the changes have been trickling in for months now, but today the sun came out and the smiles came out, and suddenly it was spring.

The sunshine is still a bit brittle, still a thin glaze over a chilly world, but it's a promise.
We had a lovely meal in the New Inn, a quirky old building of the sort that is often imitated, but this is the real thing, with winding staircases and ancient beams. They do a delicious beef brisket hash with a bonus soft-boiled egg fried in breadcrumbs! Accompanied by, of course, tea (regular black tea with milk and sugar)
At night, the chill returns, but it's no longer the chill of winter. The birds know the difference.
