#critic request

hi uh!!! i run a sprite blog and so i decided hey why not try and actually improve??? i havent sprited in a while tho lol

i like sticking with the original sprites mostly, just adding on extra details like to the hair and glasses and stuff, just to make them more ‘appealing’

Ooh, I really like your Vriska sprite? Something about how the hair and glasses looks especially looks very appealing to me. I like the teeny details like the shine on the lipstick as well! 

Not much for me to say, really- Lines are nice and clean, details aren’t too distracting and makes the overall sprite look nicer... Maybe try to branch out and start making your own sprite parts? Just a suggestion! Or try adding a bit of detail to the clothes i.e. pockets on the pants, which is something I like doing.

May I get a critique on this one? I tried to keep it mostly canon in design with the exception of his hair and horns, which are gelled and polished.

I think the sprite looks great! I like the lil shine on the horns. The sprite is nice and clean as well. 

This is pretty close to canon, so I don’t have much to comment on, but if you’d like, maybe you should try drawing the eyes with thicker outlines? Just something to try out, see if you like it.

Ok, heres the one i really need critique on, my heinoustuck itchy 01 design. Hes supposed to be based off some of the fastest animals on earth (cheetahs, hawks, to a MUCH more minor extent rabbits), but i feel like I kind of did a terrible job.

Also heres the ones im proudest of just so you can see. I know that the background on the crowbar one is fucked but thats because I was on the computer at the time instead of my phone like normal so i basically used online ms paint

Hmm, I think the designs are solid enough! I like Crowbar’s design the best. 

I notice you’re using an aliased/non pixelated brush though, which really sticks out against the pixels. Using an anti aliased brush would make it blend in better, and also make it easier to make the lines neater since they’re a little messy right now.

Great improvement! Cute designs, too. I like the detail on the hair of the newest sprite and how the outfit looks. Everything seems fine to me. Perhaps make the lines a little cleaner? The image is a little blurry so I can’t really make out how clean the lines are, but that’s really the only thing I can think of.

I like this design! I’m a big fan of the colors. I especially like shoes and the little hair band with the candy hearts and the little candies on the fins. 

I feel like the freckles should be a little bit more spaces out

The hair bands and the skirt should be more curved, and I feel like the line art for the hair should be darker so it’s clearer to see. Other than that, you just need to make sure that your line size is consistent and tidy.

I decided to make an official sprite for my first homestuck oc Tistra! I made her in like 7th grade so she has purple hair bc… why not. I grew attached to it.

I think this looks great! The fantroll design is cute, the lines are very neat and all in all it’s very pleasing to look at. I like how the hair and pants are drawn, and the little freckles too. 

I actually don’t have any complaints for this... maybe make the ends of the jacket a little bit more curved? That’s just a nit pick though. 

I will say though, it’s a little weird that you chose to do this sprite without using pixels, since that’s typically the homestuck spriting style. I’m not sure if it’s good or bad, just weird. Still, it looks very nice ^^

I left the community a while back, but you still have my most favorite sprites ever. This is an oldie, I used some of your sprite base parts on it (the hair and skirt i believe), but I made the hat myself. Thoughts on it?

This looks so nice!

Hats are the bane of my existence but this looks great, as is the design as a whole. The gradient on the skirt is a really nice touch, and the hairstyle is very cute.

I’m not a big fan of noses on sprites, just as a personal thing, but it doesn’t look bad here. 

Again, this is just a nit pick, but I feel like the stars/sequins on the skirt would look a little better if you alternated between small 1px dots and crosses or 2px dots, if that makes sense. Here’s some refs to show what I mean

These are super cute! I really like them omg,,

The hair especially looks amazing, and the highlights look perfect. 

I have no major complaints here, really. If I had to find a fault, maybe lower the face a little? That’s just me grasping at straws though, these really do look very lovely!
