I wish people would stop mischaracterizing Burning Spice. And I’m not just talking about people misreading his motivation and taking it at face value instead of realizing he’s a bystander to an endless cycle of death he has no true part in that has been tormenting since he was created who’s lived so long the monotony has driven him mad.
I’m talking about the people who see him as a domineering alpha male who “tames” female characters. He’s not. It’s an easy mistake to make I guess but. He’s not a cool hot alpha wolf character who is pair bonded with a weak and submissive woman and acts possessive about it. He’s a crazy bastard with matted hair dragging on the floor running around the desert yelling “witness destruction” and trying to hit people with a flaming axe all while treating murder as a game.
He’s a childish weirdo who just kinda does things and likes to fight more than he likes to win. He’s not controlling he’s something that refused to BE controlled anymore. Like we can all read Pitaya pretty well as a feral gremlin that likes fighting. Why not this guy? The only reasons I can think of are his voice and design which do lean more traditionally masculine (except in the fact that his design absolutely doesn’t and if he were skinny rather than beefy he’d be a femboy)
Seriously I don’t care portray him however you want but I’m a little miffed people seem to willingly ignore his actual behaviour. He’s not the cool intimidating alpha daddy character of the beasts, he’s a crazy, angry little weirdo running around the desert with no shirt on who wants you to witness destruction.
Like all trauma and darker background aside. Going purely off how he acts. People just can’t comprehend that a muscular man with a deep voice and vaguely domineering personality can actually just be a crazy little freak who wants to have a good fight with golden cheese far more than he wants her soul jam.
He’s not king, he’s thing.
