Come Dimanche Gras night, would the world musical and entertainment industry be asking the mind-boggling question as to how could someone compose a song attacking a specific ethnic group simply because they did not support a political party in a general election? It leaves one to wonder if our country is perceived by some to be so backward that there seems to be a mandate for persons to vote for a particular political party based on their race, and disregard minor details in a democratic country such as voting out governments because of incompetence, mismanagement, arrogance and corruption. Additionally, I think most citizens would be interested to know how such a song, obviously limited and lacking in lyrical content, attacking hundreds of thousands of Afro-Trinidadians because they voted against a political party, could reach the finals of the Dimanche Gras.
