So here’s the issues I have with the Crochet Society box so far.
1) To me this was the biggest turn off and the most rediculous thing I’ve ever witnessed in an online community in my life. When boxes started to arrive the admin team in the Facebook group didn’t have the post approval thing on so people were just posting whatever the hell they wanted. Finished pieces were going up full box photos you name it it was being posted in the group. So people got mad and asked for people to put spoiler alerts on their crap. Then those people called the people asking for the spoiler alerts special snowflakes. Hell split the fuck open and a bunch of people went on rampages and verbally assaulted one another because they can’t all play nice in the sand box together. Let me remind you I’ve never seen anything like this in my owlcrate Facebook group. Just saying.
2) The whole launch has seemed like a complete mess from the moment of purchase. When I purchased the box I created an account on the website and received a confirmation email saying I would receive a second email shortly. Never came. When it was announced boxes would be arriving soon I got very nervous that I wasn’t actually getting a box so I DMd the company and the assured me it was their own mess up and I was getting a box. One week later I’m pretty sure the money is still in my account, I have received no email for shipping or the passwords for the tutorials, and when I went on the website to maybe track it my account wasn’t even there anymore. And now they haven’t answered my DM. So that’s cool 🙄.
3) The box has now been 100% spoiled by the company itself and it’s only made it to people in the UK. Most international orders haven’t made it to their destination yet. Don’t you think you should have waited to post box pictures and an unboxing video until sometime next month? I’ve been trying to stay away from spoilers (even though I don’t even know if I’m getting a box) but here I am pretty much knowing what’s in this box (and not really being impressed) because people don’t know how to keep their mouths shut and because you posted the fucking picture on INSTAGRAM and it popped right up in my feed. Thanks.
At the end of the day most of these points were just annoying and something I chalked up to a new business endeavor and things that could be ironed out. But what really turned me off was the picture on my Instagram feed. It ruined the entire experience. She even put in the description that she was aware not everyone has received their box yet. It spoiled everything. There was no reason to post the contents so soon and in a way that was so unavoidable. I will be ending the subscription for these reason which is unfortunate because I was really excited.
That is is if I even have one. Because, you know, I still haven’t heard back about anything.
