Aster Wrap (Crochet Wrap)
Just finished a big project a crocheted wrap for a friend at work. The pattern was the Aster Wrap from Inside Crochet Magazine Issue 64, designed by Claire Montagomerie.
The pattern is made in squares which are joined to form the overall pattern, then a series of buttons allows the wrap to be worn as a poncho.
I crocheted the wrap in Valley Yarn 5/2 Bamboo Adobe, which is a lace weight yarn. As the yarn was a lighter weight I had to make more squares 18 instead of the original patterns ten. The wrap was a big piece of work taking over 40 hours as there was lots of joining and finishing. The pattern joined the squares by crocheted slip stitch, but with this yarn this caused puckering so I sewed all the pieces together with whip stitch.
I have made several pieces with this yarn it makes great shawls that are light, have lovely drape and can be scrunched into your handbag.
my photography needs work, but bathroom mirror helps to show pattern from the back.
I used large button at top so can be worn as scarf.
