So I know my blog is kinda dead, but I found something that I feel I need to talk about because I have no idea what to do about it.
Some of you are probably following because of the Disaster Bi pride flag post, which blew up bigger than I ever thought it would. The post is from February of 2020, back when I was 16, and I never thought that it would get very far. Since then, I've seen designs of it from all over the Internet. Fan art, fan edits, icons with characters, I've even seen it in the form of soap and a crochet patch before. I've never been more proud of a piece of art I made, and I absolutely love seeing a flag I made be so celebrated!
This morning, though, my boyfriend sent me some screenshots of it being reposted throughout the Internet (mostly on Pintrest) and that lead me to finding this Redbubble post.
Buy "disaster bi flag" by celestivl as a Poster.
I want to make it VERY, explicitly clear that I don't want anybody going after the person who made the post. In the slightly edited words of Hbomberguy (ironically, the most disastrous bisexual I've ever seen), "I want to clarify right now that if anyone harasses [celestivl] on my behalf, they are worse than [them] and will not see the light of heaven." (Plagiarism and You(tube) - 2023).
The purpose of me making this post is to 1.) state that I have absolutely nothing against people using my work for creative projects and 2.) ask for advice on what I can do about this. It's one thing to have my art included in a creative piece, which I love to see floating around on the Internet (all I ask in those circumstances is a little credit anywhere in the post and I can forgive those who don't know the source), but it's another to see my art being credited to someone else and sold for profit on one of the most notorious websites for art theft when I'm not even much of an artist anymore and have never been on Redbubble before this morning.
Please, if anybody has advice on what I should do about this, please let me know. My DMs and asks are open, as are the reblogs/comments on this post. I once again ask that NOBODY harass celestivl about this. Making people feel unsafe on the Internet over art is never okay. All I want is advice for this situation going forward, and nothing more.
