[ID: Several photographs of Grant Park in Chicago and also pastries. The top two photos are of the park, looking south down Michigan Avenue; the street is tree-lined and the statue of a mounted man with a flag is visible in the distance. The next two images are of Agora, a sculpture at the southernmost point of Grant Park, composed of oversized human figures with only legs and torsos, appearing to walk around the open space. The bottom three images are of pastries -- a cheese tart, cronut, and circular croissant, with close-ups of the cronut's flaky layers and the cream-filled interior of the croissant.]
I continue to go on adventures to entertain my friend who currently can't leave home due to health issues; yesterday's adventure was just a quick lunch jaunt around Grant Park on my way to Paris Baguette, a bakery I've been meaning to try for ages. Also I always like zooming past Agora, one of my favorite large art installations, which I also got to watch being installed when it first came to Chicago.
Paris Baguette was well worth it -- I've always wanted to try a cronut and this was the first time I had the chance, and their citrus cronut with cream filling was 100% worth it without even factoring in a very nice mini cheesecake and the "Supreme Croissant". The croissant was fine -- I've had better but I've certainly had worse, and I think I'd prefer a croissant without a chocolate cream filling to be honest. But I do like crispies in my chocolate so there is that.
In any case, Can Recommend Paris Baguette as a bakery; I'm planning to head back soonish to see if their sandwiches are as good as their pastries. Plus they have a curry bun I've got my eye on.

Hi L I know it could be anywhere from 2004 to 2008 rn depending on how long you’ve been looking for Kira and what timeline we’re going with but I’ve come from the future to tell you not to die before 2013 because some guy named Dominique Ansel is gonna invent this thing called a cronut. It’s like a croissant + donut man you’re gonna love it. Lock in. Catch Kira. You must live long enough to experience the cronut
A future dessert…? You could be Kira attempting to manipulate me with sugar-based incentives.
However, I admit… you have caught my attention. If such a creation exists, it may prove difficult to ignore. Though, it is equally possible that you are lying, in which case, I would be disappointed.
Still… the probability that I will now think about this 'cronut' during the investigation is approximately 92%.
Of course, the likelihood of my survival until 2013 is…unlikely. Nonetheless, I will attempt to extend it—if not for justice, then perhaps for this peculiar pastry.
STRAWBERRY VANILLA BEAN CRONUT
Sooo remember how I said I wasn’t gonna do fully rendered reference sheets for the Blues and Reds? Well I LIED. And also realized that because they all have like, 1 personality trait, I can basically just make them my OCs at this point. Too late, RT, my blorbos now.
SO here’s some info about CRONUT! Who remembers Cronut? Me and the other 3 Season 15 fans, I’d say.
- My main premise for the Blues and Reds is that they’re all inversions/opposites/related to the Reds and Blues in some way. In this case, Cronut is a Kzinti while Donut is a Caitian. They’re both cat-people species, but Kzintis are known for being much more warlike and aggressive than Caitians.
- Where Donut is more of a fun mischievous cat who’ll like, bite your ankles but also is nice to you, Cronut is the cat who will sit in the corner staring at you and planning your death. I think it’s so fun to speculate about his motivations, like; in canon, he’s basically got the same personality as Donut, but he’s also working with Temple to do these extremely horrible things with a chipper smile on his face. He’s a little messed up guy! What’s going on inside your brain Cronut!
- Here’s another couple little things about Cronut’s design. Because Donut has the plasma grenade scars on the right half of his face, Cronut has animal attack scars on the left half of his face. His pose is also mirroring Donut’s, if you were to go reference my Donut sheet. And his sash is blue, because I want each of the Blues and Reds to have some blue accent to indicate that they’re much more subservient to Temple than any of the Reds and Blues are to each other.
- Within the general setup of Temple’s squad, Cronut fulfills the bruiser/brawn role. He’s the one who Temple sends out if he needs a job done very efficiently and probably messily.
I feel like the only person who cares about Cronut this much, and that’s... okay. Sorry but also not sorry for stealing your character and making him mine, RT.
Next week is Gene!
