For "turns out california is more than just a state of mind," how long did you spend plotting out Brooke's backstory and did you use anything as a reference?

Thanks you for your ask! I'm for the lateness in which I'm getting to it!

Well, I spent about three to four months writing and plotting out the whole of the fic mentioned above in the ask...and where I wanted it to go.

I originally planned to have Xavier take Brooke's place for the entirety of the fic...it was to start post-episode 5 and go on from there.

But for some reason, I began randomly writing snippets of Brooke's backstory for what I believed at the time was going to be another story...and then I had my big eureka for it...and thought hey, why not start at the beginning with Brooke and work my way into what I originally planned and into canon?!

And the fic was born....and for references on Brooke's past, I'll be honest, a big portion of it comes from personal experience by proxy. I watched someone I loved be in a abusive relationship for many years...

I'll tell you because you're very sweet that the title was supposed to be "The Grip of the Familiar," because I was obsessed with the Agnes Obel song Familiar.

Welp, I'm gonna have to listen to that song now lol! I am 100% sure it would have been fitting if it had been finished...and to return the favor of telling me that tidbit, here's a rough draft of what I have written so far of my own millory fanfic:

Nobody touches him...not the mother who bore him from her womb. She never had the chance to. She dies before the doctors can bring him over. 

Not his mother's husband...he doesn't bother. Michael disgusts him and he's never tried to hide it...or his biological father, who ends his life before he's even born.

Or his grandmother, who had never been big on affection to begin with...and was even less so when she realized just how purely evil he is...or the sister he grew up believing was his own blood.

Nobody tries...no one wants to be that up close and intimate with what's been perceived since the dawn of time as true darkness...at least, no one except a nothing witch who never much liked touch for herself...and was apparently destined to be his ultimate downfall.

Jaskier/Geralt/Yen for the 002 ask

When I started shipping them: Before I even had watched the show! It’s all in the fanfic beb! It was actually this fanfic that I first read and was like “Oh, yeah, i’m gonna ship them when I decide to watch the show.” and this one about killed me after I did watch it!

My thoughts: Ummm, it just makes sense to me and I abhor love triangles. You can’t tell me that Jaskier isn’t in love with our man, Geralt…and we all know Yen is too…and given time and exposure I think Jaskier would go from being weary of Yen to adoring her fire. The mixture for greatness is all there…just gotta take the plunge.  

What makes me happy about them: Everything. The banter…the unspoken love between all of them…what could be said in the dark if they were brave…and just everything. 

What makes me sad about them: That they are only in my fantasies…at least I have fanfic to keep my dreams alive. Just make them canon, cowards! It’s okay, it’s netflix and it’s not like they haven’t done it before (looking at you Elite and The Politician!)  

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I love smut as much as the next person, but yooo develop their relationship first! It’s all done off-screen and in canon timeline…and it never makes sense to me when Jaskier and Yen would never just jump into bed together without some bonding first when it comes to canon events. They hate and annoy one another…Yen hasn’t gotten to appreciate Jaskier’s everything yet and vice versa. Yen and Jaskier are a lot to take in.. and they both need time to get on each others good side first let alone fall in love.  

Things I look for in fanfic: For them, most of the time, anything that isn’t just pure smut…like I said, love smut but with them it doesn’t sit well with me without some backstory or development first,   

My wishlist: For them to be canon, darn it! For Yen and Geralt to get off their asses and just accept that they are meant to be together…for Jaskier and Yen to go from an annoyance to each other to begrudging friends and then lovers…and for them to be in life threatening situations where they have to save each other and bond, kinda of like what happened with Geralt and Yen. 

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Yen and Geralt are going to end up together. It’s destiny…there’s no other ending for them. So yeah, that is my ‘if not with each other’. 

My happily ever after for them: To settle down and raise Ciri as their own…and then when Ciri’s older to go traveling with her and fight monsters. You know take on the family business, but together. The simple life.

22. Popular character you hate?

I don't necessarily hate her anymore, but oh man, I did at one point, and that's Jemma Simmons from AoS.

I still have some issues with her, I feel at times her characterization is way too wrapped up in Fitz's...and now that I known that's she's grown from her s1 and 2 characterization and how she handled the extremely painful changes that Fitz and Daisy (or Skye at the time) were going through in s2.

It doesn't entirely work for me anymore. I would lile her to be more independent from him...and everything I feel like she can do that, while having her love for Fitz, something tragic happens.

She's redeemed herself to me a long time ago...but I still feel she could be better. Don't hate her anymore, but I don't always like her.

And I guess that's how the game goes...nobody is perfect, not even a TV character. We're all human, even fiction.

23. Unpopular characters you love?

I have two who fit this bill...and it's Montana Duke from AHS 1984 and Vanya Hargreeves from TUA.

Oh, I get why people hate them...I do. I.don't entirely like them 100% of the time either or agree with some of the f**ked up stuff they've done.

They are diffcult characters to like or even love, but that kind of difficulty jusy for some reason endears me to them.

I like that they challenge me and my beliefs...Like how can I forgive them for these horrible things when I've hated other characters for doing the same?

I don't know. I've given up trying to figure it out. I just love them, your honor! That's a fact I can't explain.
