In 2003, this white and gold damask Tudor-style gown was worn in the miniseries 𝑯𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒚 𝑽𝑰𝑰𝑰 by Emilia Fox as Jane Seymour.   The costume actually originated in the 1977 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔, where it was worn by Lalla Ward as Princess Elizabeth.   The piece has been used many other times over the years - notably on many a book cover. The Seal Of A Pirate

A seal is a device for making an impression in wax, clay, paper, or some other medium, including an embossment on paper, and is also the impression thus made. The original purpose was to authenticate a document, a wrapper for one such as a modern envelope, or the cover of a container or package holding valuables or other objects.

The importance of the seal as a means of authentication necessitated that when authority passed into new hands the old seal should be destroyed and a new one made. When the pope dies it is the first duty of the Cardinal Camerlengo to obtain possession of the Ring of the Fisherman, the papal signet, and to see that it is broken up. $

Margaret Furse designed this beautiful green and gold Tudor coat for Richard Burton’s portrayal of King Henry VIII in the 1969 film 𝑨𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑫𝒂𝒚𝒔.   The coat was used again in the 1977 film 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔, where Rex Harrison wore it as the Duke of Norfolk.   Do you have a favorite costume from 𝑨𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑫𝒂𝒚𝒔?
