more worldbuilding :) semi-inspired by a phighting oc i have

stage combat is seen as the art form version/branch-off of phighting. some retired, professional phighters go on to perform/coach in stage combat, and it is generally seen as a respected profession for most regions. some participating phighters even use stage combat as a way to train (restricting themself to a small space, the stage). blackrockians, more specifically ones raised under the korblox administration, tend to see it as frivolous.

using one's actual gear in stage combat rather than just props would be another subset, probably a specialized version as gears are unique to the user and each have their own feel (partially inspired by how Venomshank says something along the lines of gears being connected to the inphernal wielding it in ditf*).

^ example: an inphernal with the wand of flurry gear could use it to push a partner across the stage, perhaps even turn it into a metaphor of resisting an opposing force as their partner pushes past the wind to make contact with the inphernal in question.

hehe hiii hello back on my oc again. finished deedee's design just in time, they're both uncolored, but I'll put that below. ignore the text next to her, i forgot i was doing youngest to oldest ;-;

actual second youngest is Throwing Hearts, who is very freshly twenty years old. she's the firebrand follower!

TW: religion, mention of a firearm! Also poor management of an injury, I think?

DeeDee

Horns: They're colored like the outside of a black plum, a sort of dark reddish magenta.

Outfit: Off-white, probably dirtied with how much time she spends outside. She wears thermal pants under her dress, but i have not colored that yet.

Detail: DeeDee...does NOT like to be in enclosed spaces for very long. Much prefers the outside. Reminds her of the Church, but all she describes is her head hurting since she has very little recollection of TCOTTE.

Bag: Brown, leather with a gold buckle. Contents include a book on music theory, a notebook, and ripped up scriptures. Also a pistol, gifted to her by Gear Cloner after much lecturing on gun safety.

Detail: Her gear being a gun gave Healing Gun her cracked marksmanship. This still remains the same for DeeDee, for some reason (it's cool)

Detail 2: Most of Windforce's worship in-AU includes music and song, and some of those songs were ripped up as acts of hate against the Swords. Shortly after the Incident, DeeDee finds a temple dedicated to Windforce and decides to try and restore them.

Left Eye: Pinkish white? That thing is Exposed! she doesn't wear a prosthetic, and doesn't have enough money for an eyepatch or the former.

Skin: Probably a medium-ish shade of gray?

Shoes: White with blue details

Healing Gun

Horns: Teal

Skin: same as DeeDee, they're the same inphernal

Clothing: White, with gold buttons and collar lining.

Detail: she has very minimal...detail I guess lol. it's supposed to show how little identity she has when she's in the Church— while 'dedicated', she is very very unhappy.

Healing Gun would be proud of DeeDee if they got to meet, but also scared for her future.

The image of Healing Gun is of a Spawnday-style QnA! If I actually made one, the questionnaire itself would be non-canon to the actual lore, but all the answers would be truthful to the characters.

I can imagine being anywhere that reminds her of TCOTTE would be... far from pleasant, yeah... you say she just experiences her head hurting, would that be more in a physical sense considering what happened to her, or more in a "repressed memories" kind of way...? Interesting either way...

"a pistol, gifted to her by Gear Cloner" <- given Gear Cloner's name does this mean they like. Created an unbroken version of her old gear to give to her? (then again I think that gears can be resummoned like new if damaged in canon, but I can't cite that, and I know some oc lore has it differently) ... or am I just misinterpreting, and it's just a normal pistol...

Ooh, neat that she's trying to restore Windforce's hymns(?).... what made her take to following Windforce?...

religion headcanons!

- most of the population are agnostic/are neutral about religion

- people who still follow the sfoth usually have bracelets of some kind with symbols associated with their respective deities on them. it's a common trend to accessorize beyond that, though (attaching other charms to the bracelets, tying ribbons with the respective colors on horns, etc.)

+ if the bracelets are metal, illumina and windforce's followers typically use silver or some other cool-toned material.

- despite the beef/general dislike between darkheart, venomshank, and illumina (not sure how serious it is, I haven't read ditf/know if there's any information about it in ditf), their followers are mostly cool with each other.

- if someone sees one follower of the sfoth, it's usually expected to see another in their general circle, even if they follow a different sibling

- being raised to follow the sfoth/any religion in general is extremely rare, but there are still some inphernals who have been. most religious inphernals join their faith later in life

ohhhh, followers now. i unintentionally share some of these myself. always wondered what kind of religious symbol each sfoth would have. very unrelated to the headcanons, your user is genius btw. crossiaunt. like croissant. but if the bread was an aunt. your mind is wonderful (very positive)

hi! few more religion headcanons:

- illumina's and firebrand's followers have the most paintings, tapestries, etc. regarding their worship.

- firebrand's followers are usually outside for most of the sunnier/warmer days. if they can, they either start up a fire or just light a candle on the colder ones

- windforce's followers have the most hymns/songs. singing oneself to sleep used to be seen as a worship practice before the sfoth fell out of public favor

- most followers of the sfoth hide their devotion, or just don't mention it at all

more religion! wondrous. windforce's involving the most songs because of how singing ties with breathing ties with wind is so ough. genius. lovely

sounds like a crack headcanon but father overseer strikes me as someone who was either incredibly straightlaced in early adulthood or the cuntiest man alive. like i have no other words to express it than that???

i like to go for the second route because it is extremely funny. he keeps pictures from his early adulthood around but probably in like a locked drawer because he is That Embarrassed about it. Someone probably finds them and they're like 'what the fuuuck how did that turn into this.'

he catches himself thinking 'damn i kinda looked good...' -> 'what'. like he's baffled too

could probably do the cleanest eyeliner ever when he was young. doesnt even wanna touch it now. reluctantly he will do it for an acolyte who asks and they're always '??? how did— ???' and he's sitting there hands just slightly shaky now that they aren't locked in 'don't ask.'

uhh another nonrelated one, traffic has the Californian speech pattern (? I'm not too sure this is just limited to california or if this is a california thing at all) of using an excessive amount of 'like' in his talk. when he starts a conversation he will use the word 'like' if he can't find a proper opener.

your mind is a wonderful wonderful place, this might just be my favorite father overseer headcanon yet (genuine).
