Elias had gotten a message from antique dealer that he’d always done business with, something about new oddities and rare collectibles? Only for the collectors that treasured the unique, strange and unusual.
It was a lazy train ride, aboard the rail way that severed magical individuals, he spent most of the time staring out the window, watching the world go by and or reading an old book while listening to the pitter patter of rain.
Soon he found himself within the city boundaries of London. On went his veil, hiding his face from any too curious humans. The Thorn Mage made a hasty retreat down a busy street, only to duck into an alley way that had been transformed into a garden oasis. Once behind the iron gates one found themselves meandering down an pebble strewn path that seemed out of place within the grind of the cities bustle.
Green willow trees dangled their leafy limbs down to the moss covered ground, swaying with the light breeze. A pond or two housed koi and various amphibians who croaked softly, in serenity. Lush rose bushes greeted ones gaze and pristine lilies seemed to wave a warm welcome while his tall, shadowy form walked the path. He, a stark contrast to the heavenly nook very few non-magical folk knew about.
Elias had chosen to wear the velvety veil, obscuring his bone clad face up until the point of entering the quaint antique shop. His large, gloved hand lifted the shroud and tossed it over and back onto his broad muscular shoulders before pushing the oak door open gently. A chime from a golden bell, hung over the door announced his entrance and a spritely, ancient looking human with mischievous amber colored eyes peered around the corner.
“ Elias Ainsworth. Well bloody hell, do come in chap! “ The shop keeper announced rounding the corner, spectacles perched upon his beak of a nose while he gave his old comrade a once over.
“ Is it me or are you getting taller m’boi ? “ He blurted out while running bony fingers through a long, snowy white beard. Elias reacted to the comment with a loud, audible snort of displeasure but that was before he was bum-rushed by the old human who moved quicker than one would expect. HIs hand was clasped into a over-enthusiastic manner and vigorously shook leaving the Mage, bemused.
“ You are a sight for these old eyes my friend, a genuine treat! And speaking of treats I scored at an estate sale, an auction and, ” The old man trailed off, holding a hand to whisper conspiratorially. “ ... even a few items on the black market but yah did not hear that from me mate. “
A chuckle followed before a grand wave was given, “Please, look around my friend. Use that uncanny magick of yours tell me if I have anything of magical value I’m missing. “
Elias stood still while staring at his long time friend, Gra who had always had an edge to him, for a human and a unique creativity, along with a keen knack for finding things. He was energetic, to this day but far too erratically scatterbrained to become a mage, however he knew of things.Things like magick, fae, demons and spirits most normal persons simply dismissed, like Elias for example.
“ Thank you Gra, don’t mind if I do. “ Elias replied politely before giving his friend a light nod and walking towards piles of old, leather bound books stacked up high. Rolls of tattered maps, nautical artifacts and an armoire full of crystals beckoned the sense and he realized at this point it was best to let his intuition guide him.
