Police Bristol L5G & Leyland Titan TD5 by Frederick Via Flickr: An old photograph stamped as being taken by Robert F. Mack of a Cheshire Constabulary Bristol L5G (reg LFM728) and a Ribble Leyland titan TD5 (reg RN8622) showing a service '320 - Wigan' destination blind. An early bus run while still in Police livery? LFM728 was new in Jul 1950 to Crosville Motor Services with a Bristol L5G chassis no 81.036, Eastern Coach Works body no 4573 seating B35R, and Crosville fleet no KG147. In May 1958 its fleet no was changed to SLG147 and in 1969 it was taken out of service and sold to Cheshire Police who had it until 1981. There were then a few ownership changes before being preserved as Crosville KG147, it shows as being taxed so must still be running but I do not know who operates it. RN8622 was new in Mar 1939 to Ribble Motor Services with a Leyland Titan TD5 chassis no 301400, H. V. Burlingham lowbridge body seating L27/26R, and Ribble fleet no 2057, in 1949 it was rebodied by Alexander with lowbridge body no 3573 seating L53R. It was sold in Apr 1961 to Benefit Shoes of Leeds and there a number of photographs of it working for them, after a couple of ownership changes it was bought in 2005 by a member of the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust for who it still runs in its original Ribble livery. ---------------------------------------------------- If there are any errors in the above description please let me know. Thanks. Any photograph, ephemera, etc I post on Flickr is in my possession, nothing is copied from another location. The original photographer may have taken copies from their original negative and passed them out (sold them?) so there may be other copies out there of your (and my) 'original' transport photo, although occasionally there may be 'holiday snaps' type photos where there are not any other photos exactly the same in existence. If you wish to use this image (bearing in mind it may not be my copyright) or obtain a full size version (most of my uploads are small size) please contact me.
