hey there, you seem lost...

you've wandered off and away from your family, having followed something that caught your eye. only now do you realize you have no idea where you are, or more importantly where your family has gone. in front of you lies three paths:

> to the left, an open field full of flowers. it smells sweet and is full of sun. there are so many colors and pretty things to see.

> in the center, paw prints leading deeper into the forest. there is an unfamiliar smell coming from them, but it could be a friend. alternatively, it could be dangerous.

> to the right, a path leads back to the big, black, unnatural strip of dirt you came from. it smells sickening, but it is where you came from. this is where you last saw them.

you decide to trust them.

the other cat looks at you, concerned. once you've composed yourself, and can understand them, they repeat their question; "are you okay?"

you answer back that yes, you are okay. they smile a little, glad to hear that you aren't hurt. they ask you something else, to which you can't quite place the answer.

you wrack your brain, trying to remember the information you need. you look next to you, into a puddle, trying to find something. your own face stares back at you as you try and recall:

as fast as you can, you begin to RUN.

as you begin to sprint forwards, paws scrabbling on the rough gravel, something shoves you from behind. you tumble forwards, hitting your head as you roll and narrowly missing the monster that would have crushed you.

you feel the wet grass under your paws, your entire body still quivering with shock. you still yourself after a moment, ears still ringing. you look up, trying to figure out what, or who, saved your life.

in front of you stands another cat, but not a familiar one. they look older than you, but that's a low bar. after all, you are only 9 moons old. they ask you a question, but you can't make sense of the words over the piercing sound. they seem to scramble themselves as you hear them.

after a lot of consideration, you've made your choice.

you start to follow the paw prints down the center, but after a few steps you see how big they are compared to your own. probably not a friend, definitely not your family. instead, you turn to go back to the unusual dirt path.

but as you approach the strip, you realize it isn't... quite dirt? you try and investigate closer, tentatively walking onto the unfamiliar surface to figure out what it could be.

as you do, the ground underneath you begins to shake. you look up and it's like the sun itself is directly in front of you, in the eyes of a hideous beast barreling towards you. you freeze, shaking as you look towards what's coming to you. three options come to mind in the moment you have to think:

> try and scamper back

> cower and hope it passes

> run as fast as you can forwards
