4, 5, and 11

4. What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

Okay this is going to sound terrible but my favorite line of dialogue hasn’t been published yet, it’ll be, like, fifty chapters from now, I really like the exchange in ch 11 that was

“Maybe I am that stupid,” Alexander says. “But hey, if you stand for nothing, then what do you fall for?”

“You’re being rather indecipherable right now,” Aaron says.

Alexander grins. “Like poetry?”

“Allow me to amend that, you’re being rather insufferable right now.”

Alexander props himself up on one elbow. “I could always…talk less. Smile more.”

Aaron has never been so grateful for the dark, and the subsequent fact that Alexander cannot seethe blush rising on his face.

“Convince you with actions rather than words.”

Aaron risks a, “Did that line work on Laurens?”

There’s a moment of silence and Aaron is terrified that he has completely misread the situation.Then Alexander answers, “I think the more important question right now is if it worked on you.”

5. What part was hardest to write?

The Constitutional Convention arc, because it involved more research than I thought I would be doing in an attempt to get a plot point through in a way that hopefully people who knew anything about history and period attitudes wouldn’t immediately go “that is such a stretch, wow, so fake,” and it was also when I first had to grapple with dealing with unsavory politics of the time and what is the mixture between wanting to write a story about characters trying to do the right thing, who were based on people that really didn’t, instead of just “have a bunch of feelings about characters trying to navigate relationships with one another.”. 

11. What do you like best about this fic?

Something must be magical about this question because it has been asked every single time so far. ~My real favorite thing was the friends I made along the way.~ All joking aside, like, a few of the people I talk to and interact most with in my life right now, we got started talking about writing in general but they’d also let me rant non-stop about my fic and it’s slightly scary to think of, like, would I just not have these people that mean so much to me as a part of my life right now if I hadn’t written this goddamn fic, so yeah, the friends that I made along the way.
