Summary: After the disastrous reveal at the Landmark, John tells Sherlock there can be no excuse for what he’s done, and no forgiveness. Sherlock leaves London and starts a new life, and not even the British Government knows where.
It’s up to John to track him down and make things right, with a trip around the world and a clue only John would recognize.
This little piece is entirely inspired by this amazing art by @johix.
Please enjoy some silly husbands enjoying summer, wine and each other <3
On Ao3 here
Blue skies and endless fields spread out as far as the eyes can see. Dandelion sits in the shade of their canopy, watching Geralt pick out a wine from three identical bottles. He rests his chin in his hands, studying Geralt with a soft smile.
“They are completely identical, my dear witcher,” Dandelion teases, knowing exactly how Geralt will bristle at that.
“No two bottles are identical, bard. Even if they are from the same batch, there are subtle differences, ” Geralt mutters, just as predicted, and frowns at him.
His face is so smooth now; it’s been a while since Dandelion last saw him clean shaven. It makes him look… not younger, but as if he took a step back in time.
It suits him. But to be fair, most things suit Geralt. Most of all, the relaxing days of retirement suits him. His high metabolism makes it hard for him to gain weight, but Dandelion thoroughly enjoys watching him fill out ever so gently.
“Stop staring at me,” Geralt says, sounding every bit as self conscious as he looks. It only makes Dandelion smile wider. Finally, one of the three bottles pass whatever criteria Geralt is holding them against, and he pours them a glass each.
“Alas, I cannot,” Dandelion says, feeling terribly fond. “It feels like it’s been a lifetime since I saw your upper lip.”
Geralt glares over his glass of wine, and Dandelion's smile turns into a smirk.
“That was the last time I will fall for one of your tricks.”
“It’s not my fault you fell asleep with wine stains in your beard.”
“It is, and you know it.”
“Alright, maybe,” Dandelion concedes, standing up and sauntering over toward Geralt on the other side of the table. “But it is no fault of mine that you are completely irresistible, pink beard or not.”
He plops down in Geralt’s lap, one arm draped over his shoulder, the other hand caressing the pale skin of his cheek. Smooth skin brushes against his thumb, a thin scar, pale and barely there anymore, on his chin.
“Watch the wine,” Geralt murmurs, his lips brushing against Dandelion's finger as he traces old lines, new lines, laugh lines.
“Can’t. I’m watching you,” Dandelion says, thumb catching on Geralt’s lower lip. He can’t resist the temptation to lean in and press a peck on that wine stained mouth.
“All these splendid vistas... and I still only have eyes for you, darling.”
“Dandelion.”
“Yes, love?” Gods, the way Geralt says his name.
Geralt doesn’t reply. Instead, he steadies Dandelion with one hand and reaches forward and puts his wine to safety.
Then he leans forward, his other arm too wrapping around his bard, pressing them close. This kiss is longer. Gentle, indulging, the art of tasting wine from another's lips.
Guys, gals, non-binary pals - may I present to you: Vincent & Jonah, drawn by the amazing @johix!!! I’m going to stare at them for the rest of the week now, thanks and goodbye :D
So I'm thinking about Valdo. 1 would assume he's simply Dandelion's rival right? But we never hear from anyone of Valdo being a famous poet. Maybe he bested D at some contest or maybe some lady chose him over D. But knowing from the canon how overly famous for both poetry and lovemaking D is, also how confident he is, it seems unlikely. Sure, he's selfish and can be mean to ppl. But he /hates/ Valdo. He srsly wishes for him to die! He who hates violence. I wonder what happened between them...
i too think abt him!! you can’t just give one of the main characters a lifelong rival and not further explain it...
my take so far are is that valdo and dandelion were in the same class at oxenfurt academy and actually befriended each other. just young men in academia being dudes. they grew together because of how similar they acted in classes, but they soon grew apart after realizing they had so much dividing them.
valdo’s main conflict with dandelion is that he thinks he’s an annoying noble brat that just likes playing the role of musician for shits and giggles, while valdo in opposition is from a legacy of Those Skilled In the Musical Arts and the trade was like handed down to him from his fathers and forefathers. it doesn’t really matter what your background in class is, it matters if you have the familial history to back up your career, and since dandelion ventured out of what seems to be a family immersed in clerical work, it’s kind of like if your family was famous for being secretaries and you became an international pop star. so he kind of sees dandelion as being classless, especially because dandelion’s talent kind of comes naturally and it’s a bit of an affront to someone whose family has practiced at this for generations to have some dude with a lute walking half-dressed out of a brothel thinking up some rhymes that become that becomes most adored verse of the season.
also because dandelion is . a bit of a disaster re: getting his stuff thrown out of windows by angry lovers, valdo thinks that dandelion perpetuates this ‘musicians are noncommital scoundrels’ stereotype and that defames their entire profession. also because of how nenneke describes dandelion’s writing as going from touching romanticisms to vulgarity in a few lines... i think that’s one thing about his work that rings out a lot throughout many critics
and also, dandelion travels the world getting into trouble and sings for many courts, while valdo is permanently a member of the cidarian court. dandelion places a value on seeing many things across the entire world and befriending & learning from even the singing beggars on the streets, and again valdo finds this offensive to the Art of Troubadoury and that dandelion was practically wasting his time at prestigious oxenfurt if he thinks that being a musician of the world is of any value.
also since dandelion named himself dandelion / got the nickname from classmates and decided to adopt it as his stage name & pen name, valdo thinks the idea of a stage name is also tasteless and sees it less of a sexy thing and more of an excuse & cover up for dandelion not having the familial background to back up his music career. people might recognize a de lettenhove in noble courts, but no one would recognize a de lettenhove on stage.
i have like two fic ideas with valdo in them: one where dandelion and geralt visit the court of cidaris and conflict ensues, and one where their conflict is more explained with dandelion & essi meeting for the first time and their sibling relationship is developed and valdo’s like ‘it’s bad enough that you have bad practices, but you’re spreading it by teaching another nobody to finger a lute and adopt a fake name?’ etc. and in the end dandelion and essi participate in a contest against valdo and his protege.
i think dandelion really dislikes him because valdo doesn’t stand against just dandelion, but rather everything he values, and that includes those close to him like essi and geralt, and his career which is his huge passion. (i mean valdo would also be against dandelion’s close friendship with geralt b/c it’s like, why are you travelling around with a witcher and not other poets?) it’s one thing for someone to hate on dandelion’s writing by calling it not good, but to argue that he’s fundamentally incapable of art due to his birth and that all his friends are as trash as he is is way more severe. that’s why the offense doesn’t “last only half a day” as it usually does with dandelion... the offense extends beyond himself.
38. What was the last meal you cooked and how did it taste?
Ach, děkuju za ask 😅
I made banana pancakes! The recipe was very improvised, because we didn’t have milk at home - protože koronténa - but they actually ended up pretty tasty! I’ll have to work on my frying skills though, because they were still a bit burnt. Maybe by the end of all this social distancing, I’ll actually know how to make proper pancakes!
Hello! Your arts and posts are so amazing, i have a good mood when i see them. May i ask you to do some hot arts with Geralt x serial Jaskier. This ship is so adorable. Have nice Day :З
Hi there :) I’m happy to hear u enjoy the reblogs and my (johix) art. For the time being I want to keep this blog for strictly gerlion fanart to support the artists that draw this ship - just fanart, no edits, no gifs, no texts...
I do reblog netflix gerlion fanart, but I am not a fan of the show, nor the interpretation of the characters and for now I would not feel comfortable drawing them.
I might borrow netflix Jaskier in the future (bc Joey is sweet and he tries his best and I love his costumes) to maybe give him a different new Geralt (not my canon/headcanon Geralt but some nice netflix au Geralt - just not Cavill ew).
