@greendad: my best guess is it's something to do with what your eyes seeing not matching what your body is physically experiencing??

crowcalled: I have the same issue with first person games, especially the first time i play. I think it's what greendad said, that what you see doesn't match what you feel, and it messes with your brain.

My eyes/inner ear/brain are all pretty sensitive to everything. Light, pressure differences, color, busy patterns, etc. First person games trigger the motion sickness most--I love love loved Portal but couldn’t finish it because I had to go lie down every 20 minutes. That being said: if someone else is playing, I have no problem at all, probably because my brain isn’t trying to interpret it as reality. Which results in me backseat driving a lot while other people play games...all apologies to @commonly-nonsensical.

Using "Oh vey" as opposed to "Oy vey" or saying it at all? Are you remembering this so you can scold them or what?

Nah, ‘Oy’ translates as ‘oh’, it basically means the same thing as far as I know. I’m not about to criticize anyone’s pronunciation--I say ‘tomato’ as ‘tuhmattuh’, it’s annoying an confusing and I am Part of the Problem, tbh. Not to speak for my buddy, but it’s more just? Yiddish is way disconnected from its origins now? It’s a longstanding language with a lot of history but is largely remembered in (at least my part of) the US as something funny :/

Ghost Hunt. Which is an anime that I’m mildly embarrassed to cop to watching and then turning around and reading the manga of.... I have a weakness for that place where supernatural happenings and dorky characters meet (100% blame watching entirely too many studio ghibli films and episodes of Gargoyles growing up for this trait).

I don't know about saying "tomato" as "tuhmattuh" being bad - isn't that more of a regional thing? I get wanting gentiles to avoid using Yiddish, although maybe complete erasure of linguistic sharing that's been a holdover from the early 1900s would not be ideal. It's more of a regional thing, for sure - people in New York are a lot more likely to use it than people out in Seattle

nah pronunciation isn’t it at all, just keeping in mind the history of the language. I ought not have joked around about how I say stuff, it’s detracting from the point of the post tbh and that’s on me. it’s not who should and should not say specific words, just reflecting on the regard and state of the language now in regards to its rich history

Some people (including myself) get heart palpitations naturally just from genetics. Not a big deal! Don’t worry too much about it.

I’m not really worried about it, it’s just a very annoying game of which is causing the other 

I notice it like every half hour and it’s not terribly comfortable
