I'm reminded of a scene in Battlestar Galactica (the reboot) shortly after the initial attack on the colonies, where Laura Roslin (the president) mentions to her assistant (Billy) that all of humanity was just nearly wiped out and all she can think about is how she has breast cancer. She thinks she is a horrible person. Billy tells her that she's not. She's human.

k.d. performing Heaven in Modesto this past Friday, courtesy of the lovely and talented CrowDog. 

This show was my first time seeing k.d. perform live. After watching and listening to so many recordings of her, I was stunned to find that she was even more amazing in person than I'd imagined. It's quite an experience to hear her sing right in front of you -- the quality of her voice and the energy and chemistry of the band just can't be fully captured in a recording.

I've been assured that my current concert buzz will last for at least a few months, but I hope to catch more shows this summer just the same ;)
