You grew up poor and then one day your boyfriend Crowley shows up at your family home.
Pairing: Reader X Crowley
“So, what are doing with your life?” My red headed aunt Mildred asked.
I dread that question. I can’t as well tell people that I’m living with the King of Hell. Or that I’m the only human who resides in Hell. I don’t think people would take it well if I told them I was dating a man over three times my age. I might scare people if I were to tell them I did the paper work for the people who sell their souls.
“Ummm, not much,” I say. “Just working in a boring business firm.”
“Oh, how sweet!” Mildred says pinching my cheeks like I am a three year old child.
My family gets together a lot, it’s all we have. We are pretty poor. My grandparents and parents all live together in a small old trailer house in a very large city. The wall paper is yellowing and falling off and the mattresses are rock. I slept on the beat up kitchen table most of my life.
Now I live in a very majestic part of Hell with a very amazing man (ok actually he’s a demon). I’m living a life no person in my family could have even imagined having a life like mine. Honestly I don’t even feel that bad about having a better life than them.
These are the type of things that I don’t tell Crowley. One of those things is my childhood. Someday when we get married and have a family of our own I will be able to forget all about my previous life.
These kinds of family reunions don’t happen that often so we were all sitting around the table playing cards, eating crappy cookies, and drinking coffee. Suddenly form no were appeared Crowley. How am I ever going to explain this to the family?
“Hello darling.” he said staring at me with his beautiful chocolate eyes.
“Hello Sir.” I said with a smirk. I was trying to hold off the giggles caused by the look of surprise on everyone’s faces.
“Who are all these people? And what are you doing in this ummmm… place?” said Crowley.
“Well these people are my family and this is where I grew up.” I said
“I’m sorry to interrupt,” said my aunt. “but who is this man?” She was checking him out!
“Well, Mildred. You see, this is my boyfriend, Crowley. He is also my boss.” I said in a sassy yet professional tone of voice.
“BOYFRIEND!!!” my aunt said in her catty gossip women voice.
My mom gasped and started fanning her face with her had of cards. I thought she was gonna faint. My father chucked and reshuffled the cards.
“Pull up a chair and play a hand, Crowley.” my serene father said.
At this point my mother was getting tears in her eyes. She really wanted me to marry a rich, young man and have lots of little children she could fuss over and dress in expensive clothes. I think she knows that I now have a different idea of what I want my future to be.
Crowley pulled up a chair behind me and grabbed his hand of cards.
“So, Crowley what do you do for a living?” my dad asked.
“I’m a sales person. I have made over 100 deals in the past month alone.” Crowley said looking to me for approval.
“Yeah like I said we work together. I do the paper work for his clients and I record the transactions sometimes.” I told my family. It wasn’t a total lie. I do work to get his “clients” to Hell at the right time.
“Oh, how wonderful!” my aunt said. “So, Crowley, have you been married before?”
“Yes. I was married a very long time ago. It didn’t really last long and now she is long gone. And she wasn’t Y/N.” said Crowley putting his hand on my leg.
“And you plan on marring Y/N do ya?” my mom asked.
“Well, yes. She is my true love and soul mate.” he said forcing a smile. I could tell that it was killing him to have to be nice to my psyco family.
“Well mama, I want to marry him too.” I said.
My mother just grunted and started doing the dishes. I think that was our queue to leave.
“Well Crowley, do you want to go see a movie?” I asked trying to make our departure not as awkward as possible.
“You know, Y/N, I would love to go to a movie.” Crowley replied with the last of the politeness he could muster in such a public place.
So we said our quick good byes then headed out the door. We were only a few miles down the road before we both burst out laughing.
“I can’t believe they didn’t even question how you got into the house!” I said
“Yeah! Your aunt was totally checking me out. Do you think she actually thought she had a chance with me?” Crowley said still laughing.
“Maybe. She has always been a little off.” I said we had both begun to calm down the further away we got form the trailer.
“Just pull over here. Just leave the car. I will get you a new one. Let’s go home.” He said.
So, I pulled over and Crowley zapped us back to our little home in hell. He sat us in big leather chairs next to a roaring fire. There were two cups of hot coco sitting on the coffee table between us.
“You never told me that your family was poor Y/N.” he said. I had been dreading him asking these questions since the day I met him.
“Yeah? I didn’t think it was ever important.” I said. “It’s not like it’s my life any more. Crowley, you are my only life now.”
“You do know that I have the power to help them,” he said. “They could just happen to come in to a lot of money.”
“Crowley, you can do that if you want to, just please don’t tell me about it if you do.” I said
“The only family I could ever want or need now and forever is you. I don’t have that strong of feelings about in other person or thing in the entire universe.” I said
He leaned over and planted a sweet kiss on my lips.
“Forever and always,” he said.
