The unexpected happening wasn’t anything new to Bucky. In fact, he’d learned to just go with the flow. Things happened that weren’t planned, missions went sideways. It happened almost every time they got out. But this day just seemed to get worse and worse. Natasha seemed irritated, but in a completely different way, even though she kept telling him she was fine. When they got back to the compound, she disappeared almost immediately. It took Bucky a little while to find her. “Are you sure you’re alright?” He asked, nearing her. She looked flushed, and frustrated. “Let me help you. Tell me what’s wrong. I know things didn’t quite go as we planned, but it all worked out in the end.”
By the time that James had found her, Natasha had showered and changed. She was rather curled in on herself. in a corner with her back pressed firmly against a wall. Her head was pressed to her knees and unable to keep herself from clutching tightly at her bent legs. Though, recognizing the gate of the steps coming towards her, she had forced herself to uncurl. Pressing her back all the way against the wall.
In answer to his question, she shook her head. Not knowing if she could trust her voice, in that moment. Nearly certain that it would give her away. She ran her fingers through her hair and tried to figure out how to even explain what was going on with her. She also knew that English would be an issue for her. Not that was a problem with James. He knew Russian.
