We have all seen and talked about misa's fangs (as we should)(he's a precious little puppy)

But I am here to spread an agenda, get ready for:

Sharp, lower, right canine sam

They are the most dudebro, married couple that has ever existed, and I love them very dearly. This is in no means complete (or coherent, I'm sorry, it's too hot)

They have been playing on rival teams almost as long as they have been playing hockey. The rivalry was especially strong between Saginaw and London during their OHL days, but instead of falling victim to the rivalry they actually became something close to friends. They didn't meet outside of hockey, but they'd always smile and laugh at each other.

This is also where we get the famous "but I like dick" quote from Misa!! (also the answering insta comment from Sam, they make me sick)

That era is also where this picture comes from (tell me that's not one of the most beautiful hockey pictures)

Misa is my little creature and he is very earnest. He will give out compliments that are entirely too real for the situation, but he will also say out of pocket stuff without realizing. The famous "who's more likely to cry" debate is one of my favorite examples of this. This post also delves into why that loss was especially hard for London a little (I sadly can't find the one that explained it more in depth, if I remember correctly London won against Saginaw in an earlier round, but since Saginaw was hosting the cup finale they got another shot and then won with a last second goal)

I feel like Sam isn't entirely over it yet and Misa did kind of unintentionally rub salt in the wound... Whoops

They said it was easy to pick up and become friends quickly once Misa was drafted to San Jose too. Sam is the only young guy who doesn't live with billet parents and so Misa invited Sam over for diner because he didn't want him to be lonely -> Sam becomes a permanent fixture in the Toffoli houshold

They room together while on the road and Sam seems to manage their stuff (kind of; Reavo calling Sam, Sam setting the alarms, Misa expecting Sam to know stuff and for him to do it)

Apparently Misa sleeptalks a lot, and he used to sleepwalk as a kid. The sleep talking is morbid (good word ← I hate them, this is what I mean when I say they are super dude bro)

They also had a ghost while in buffalo, according to them (no one on the team believed them)

Onto a random assortment of some of my favorite moments of both them together and solo:

Sam loves to bully Misa, but he is also the first one to reassure him when Misa starts to feel insecure. It's finding that balance between the two things and Sam has mastered it beautifully.

Sam is THE media darling, he is genuinely so charming and good at talking, while also being a huge idiot. It's a very endearing combination.

One of my favorite Sam moments, just look at him

Misa either responds to the nickname baby, or he responds to baby-talk voice. Both equally embarrassing for him and endearing to me.

The early beginnings: puppy crushes while on rival teams

Of course Sam notices Misa, how could he not? The other boy is so talented and beautiful. He can't stop the protectiveness he feels over the younger one.

And to Misa Sam is just so cool!! Here is this guy who is tall and loud and confident; who throws a smile or wink his way which makes him feel all warm and fuzzy inside. He likes Sam he decides, Sam's a nice guy.

Their first years: as teammates and actual friends

It's easy to pick up where they left off. They weren't really close friends before, but talking comes easy. And the more they open up to each other the stronger their feelings get.

They are content being friends, it's nice, it's easy. And taking the first step towards more is scary.

But somehow they end up falling into it anyways, they didn't plan on kissing, it just kind of happened. And afterwards they don't really talk about it. It makes Misa feel a little anxious, and Sam tries to seem like he's above it, joking about it or just bulldozing past it when Misa tries to bring it up seriously. But deep down it eats at him too, he wants and he wants and he wants...

Pining: the phase of horrible, terrible pining

They are both actually totally okay with the way things are, as long as they keep moving. Don't stop, don't examine your feelings, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine.

They still kiss from time to time, but only when they are drunk (they are never drunk enough to justify it, but they can pretend, they have become so good at pretending)

Finally dating

Not much more to say, they are happy, people around them are losing their minds. They are unsure what is worse, the horrible sad puppy pining from before, or whatever this is.

Evil alternate timelines:

Evil alternate timeline number 1: they stay teammates but don't figure it out.

(There's still time, it's not too late, maybe they can retire together)

Even more evil alternate timeline number 2: one of them gets traded and they have a falling out and barely talk to each other anymore.

(the one about not having talked in 10 years brought back the memory of a gyubrick fanfiction: 'emails I (did) send')

These are ugly colours so they are separated (or not exactly ugly, they are just very bright and don't mesh well with the others imo)

I just learned something new about fungus-growing ants (attini) and felt like that knowledge could be used for bad samisa flirting

Attini have different roles within the colony based on both age and head size. Almost all young ones start out within the nest, either tending to the colonies fungus garden or tending to the nestlings. Once they are older they go out to forage.

The big ones cut and transport the leaves while it is suspected that the smaller ones (minims) will ride on the leaf being carried by the big ones to defend them from parasitic flies.

(enough nerdy context let's get into the samisa of it!!)

Sam and Misa are cuddled up on the couch, Sam is leaning against the armrest, legs spread out around Misa who is leaning back against his chest. Both of them are scrolling on their phones, occasionally Misa will hold up his phone a bit higher so Sam can see it more comfortably while Sam just wedges his phone in-between the—way too small—gap between Misa's phone and face.

Suddenly Misa is shifting in Sam's lap, twisting so now his chin is propped up on Sam's chest looking up at him.

"I would be your minim. I'd always keep you safe," is all Misa says, before he rubs his face against the soft fabric of Sam's shirt over his heart.

Sam blinks down at Misa, thinks about asking for clarification for a second before he decides that it's fine, he will just look it up later—he will not. He doesn't want to look like an idiot in front of Misa. Instead he tangles his fingers through Misa's hair, presses him down into his chest a bit more, feels Misa's contented huff of air.
