THE GESTURE IS SO CLOSE TO vein's usual disciplinary method that, for a moment, xia fei actually cowers. his hands fly to his head, shielding, a pouty grimace tugging his lips downward — and then he remembers who it was that flicked him.

it takes less than a second for him to launch forward, shoving hard at their chest with both palms. if they crack their head on the wall behind them, that's on her for provoking him. ❝ piss off. ❞

        anais moves to crouch beside @crowshoots near the fire, offering her a bowl of whatever gale has cooked up for them from their meager rations tonight. “here. eat.” they settle onto a log with their own bowl, preparing to do the same. “we move into the shadow-cursed lands tomorrow. from there we'll find our way to the city.” the unspoken promise they'd made on the sword coast to get jesper back to baldur's gate still lingers. / s.c.

Wendell supposes that this predicament that he's in is partly his fault. After all, no matter where his travels takes him, he makes it a point to visit the local pub or club and make nice with the locals. It's not his fault that he's entirely like-able, however. Or that Kaz Brekker thought he might be useful for their next outing. Dr. Bambleby is their key into the University of Ketterdam's most prestigious event of the year, a gala hosted in their typically highly-guarded museum.

He stands in front of a floor-length mirror, buttoning his vest and then rolling up his sleeves. If nothing else, this evening will be highly entertaining. "Is your job to make sure I don't abandon the plan? Mr. Brekker doesn't strike me as the most trusting fellow. I don't blame him. I wouldn't trust me, either."

         "You knew full well that I'd likely be here, don't lie. In fact you were hoping it would be me guarding the flag didn't you?" Kaz watches Jes like a hawk as he circles them, their own body moving to match every single one of his so that he never has a clear path towards the pile of rocks that the flag is sticking out of. Jesper is fast, faster than one might think and it is for that reason alone Kaz had insisted he be assigned guard duty for his team. Because Jes may be quick, she may be faster, but Kaz can predict her better than anyone else and he is fortunate enough to have /luck/ on his side as well.

     Even so they are fairly evenly matched — there is no telling how this might go and that risk they are certain is what drew Jes to this moment.

         Kaz twirls the shortstop clasped within their grasp, their dagger tucked away neatly in its sheath at their waste. Their eyes look darker than they normally are within the shadows of their helmet, but there is a still of a smile on their lips that speaks far greater volumes their mood than anything else. "Try saying 'please' first and maybe I will consider it. I don't know, there isn't much in it for me if I just let you take it now is there? Care to sweeten the deal?"

JESPER'S TOUCH IS HOLY EVEN NOW, when keon has long grown used to their hands. perhaps it's the touch-starved boy in him, the one who'd forgotten what a hug felt like by the time he turned fifteen. or perhaps it's the worshipper in him, a man raised on confession booths and hymns and communion wine tipped down his throat. whatever it is, his body never grows tired of the way jesper's fingers curl around his face. as ever, it causes a ripple of goosebumps down his arms. a sigh leaves him, soft as a breeze through an oak tree, as their lips meet; keon finds his hands drifting up to rest on his waist, one remaining there and the other tracing a line up his back. when they break, he turns his head to press a kiss to their palm.

when did this become so easy? when did it stop feeling like committing a crime and start feeling like sacrament? he couldn't pinpoint it, not accurately, and it doesn't much matter. ❝ i missed you too. ❞ a teasing glimmer in the eye. ❝ i hope it wasn't too lonely around here without me. ❞

so, automattic hasn’t made a public announcement yet, but current and former employees have leaked a screenshot saying tumblr is going to be a legacy project.

the basic gist of it is, tumblr is going to be on life support. they’re keeping the site, they have a skeleton crew, but updates will slow or stop. things like bugs, spam, outages, etc, will take much longer to be fixed. in all likelihood, this means the site will run for a while longer on momentum, unless somebody trips on a wire in the server room or something, but it does mean an eventual arc downwards.

of course, they’ll have to pry this site from my cold dead hands, so I will be here until the walls finally collapse around us and I am unable to use the site at all, but it’s still a good idea to prepare by backing up blogs and saving people’s contact information so you have other ways to talk to them. better safe than sorry! in the past, fandom spaces have disappeared overnight with no warning, so it’s wonderful that we have time.

all of this of course comes with the caveat that, again, this is on the word of employees, not automattic itself. it’s entirely possible that there’s a group of employees faking a newsletter for some reason. I’m just prepping for the worst.
