Your main villain. Has the same emblem. As one of your main characters. And you never noticed even 2 volumes and a spinoff later. How. How?
Don't get me wrong, I'm relieved they're not going that route; I didn't particularly want to see a plotline about Jaune being Salem's descendant. But the fact they straight up didn't think about it doesn't bode well. Funnily enough, this emblem issue is emblematic of the recurring issues the writers have with continuity and worldbuilding. They completely forget things right in front of them (like Jaune's shield with the giant emblem) when adding new things, without considering how new concepts impact existing ones.
Also, can they like. Stop relaying important info through reddit and panels and just put it in canon? Expecting your audience to keep up with your social media in order to understand the show (and the fndm talking down to people who don't bc xyz is ""canon"" and explains away any criticism for the actual canon) is not how good stories are told. This isn't a huge offender, as debunking the theory means it probably wouldn't come up in canon at all, but it still rubs me the wrong way when we try to theorize and are then told our ideas are invalid because of a tweet
