Hey. Just wanted to send you a note about your post about being disoriented when you wake up. It sounds like something called dissociation, and if it happens often when you wake up, you might want to talk to a doctor about techniques that will help reduce that feeling.

oh dear.. it never crossed my mind that it might be dissociation. I’m pretty neurotypical as far as I know so I never thought I’d experience it. I didn’t consider that waking up every morning in complete disorientation and not being able to think logical thoughts for a good few minutes might not be a normal thing to experience lmao

I’d always thought that I’m just really really bad at waking up, and I never actually qustioned why I suffer so much more than other people, even when I get normal amounts of sleep

either way, I don’t know a lot about it so it’s probably a good idea to look into it. thank you so much for your message! <3

Look, I'm demisexual, too. The main point I was trying to make was that a lot of people don't KNOW they're demisexual. If someone asked them what's wrong, they wouldn't be able to tell them. I have read stories where I could see the main character as a demisexual. I can identify with some characters. I was never referring strictly to hetero relationships, either. I'm not sure what type of books you read, but it may just be you're not looking in the right direction. There is stuff is out there.

there is nothing with canon demisexual characters in popular media

where is the demisexual character in lord of the rings? where is the demisexual character in game of thrones? dr who? downton abbey? the hunger games? lost? teen wolf? 

the point is, there are no characters who are demisexual, whether they know it or not, and actually show the struggles and thoughts someone goes through.

why is this? because most writers only use the LGB!!! they forget that asexuality is a thing! demisexuals (and anyone who identifies as grey a as well) are even forgotten about within the LGBTQIA+, QUILTBAG or whatever you call it. I mean, just look at the D for demisexual in there, such representation. demisexuals don't even fit as part of the ace spectrum, not entirely.

using common tropes and cliches for a drawn out love/romance plot =/= demisexual character and it is sad that you can't see this.

I honestly never thought I'd miss the times when I was invisible and quiet. but right now I really fucking do. The bad part of growing to love yourself and shining through is it attracts attention and with the boys will be boys mentality..

well tbh, that's kind of trans-phobic of them... If they're attracted to men and women, then they're also unknowingly attracted to trans men and trans women. There isn't some kind of sign stuck on trans men and women everywhere they go that says "Trans". I mean like... I can understand being a lesbian and not being attracted to trans women who keep their penises and do not get reconstructive surgery...? But like... it IS trans-phobic to say you are 100% unnattracted to trans people because... you could literally be walking by trans people every day and you wouldn't know. It's this assumption that trans people are somehow less than or unequal to cis people. Trans people are men and women like anyone else. That's kind of the point. As a bisexual woman, I like to date men or women (as well as people who may identify outside the gender binary). Which includes trans people because most trans I've come across don't wear trans as a singular gender identity, like they usually say "I'm a woman, please use feminine pronouns." Or "I am a man, please use masculine pronouns." When a trans person says they are male or female, that is what they are. And so for bi people to say they aren't attracted to trans people, it's like putting trans people in a box that says "not normal" and acting as if trans people aren't the same or equal to cis men and women. When they are and should not be brushed off as un-datable. If I date a trans man... I am dating a man. He's a man. And whether you can distinguish him from being cis or not, he is still a man. Likewise with women. It's kind of like the annoying argument we bi people get from lesbians and gays who say they're not attracted to or interested in dating bi people.. That reaks of biphobia imo.
