On my Playlist #14 “This Song Will Never End” - Thau (1997) You’ll be reading a lot about music from Northern Europe here. You could even guess who I’ll be writing about, I bet. But not this time. In my very last moment as an education major in college, I was holding a form in my hand. The form that would let me out. I forgot how or to whom I submitted it, but vividly remember climbing up and down four stories on the way, with headphones on, playing Swish so loud that I heard nothing else. Picked up as NOS for a few bucks, it has taught me so much more... Link to my playlist in bio... *This is a rework of what I’ve been doing on my private account for the past few months #thau #swish #thissongwillneverend #crunchyfrog #crunchyfrogrecordings #1997 #1997年 #fromdenmark #danishband #danishmusic #danishartist #soundtrackdrownedspeech #music #blog #musicblog #onmyplaylist #playlist #musicplaylist #spotifyplaylist #youtubeplaylist #playlistspotify #playlistyoutube #音楽 #洋楽 #ブログ #音楽ブログ #プレイリスト #スポティファイ #ユーチューブ @tnthrdsrcrds (at Denmark) https://www.instagram.com/p/CIDfdu2n9aJ/?igshid=np72qe1lemaf
Fresh Digs: Powersolo - “Seven Inches From Heaven” (Crunchy Frog Records)
Whether you’re new to Powersolo and the antics of local madman, Kim Kix & co. or a long-time stalker - this latest singles round-up is probably the closest you’ll get to a solid introduction to their very fucked up but rewarding world.
I like to picture Kim right now, undoubtedly somewhere on the road on the way to and from a show in a warm EU country with a van full of dudes and a gift shop captain hat on with his elbow hanging out of a window and a perpetual cig dangling out from his mouth. I don’t ever want to imagine him doing the boring stuff that most of us have to do - filing taxes, considering changing cable providers, waiting in the freezing rain for a tram... No, we all need a hero i s’pose, a Neil Cassidy type, a dirty uncle that sneaks you porn at Easter, your dad’s war buddy who taught you how to make a spud gun and roll a doobie.
If you get into Powersolo - you’ll never be bored. Their entire presence in the media, in concert and beyond seems to be a frantic quick-cut VHS fever dream. “Seven Inches From Heaven” kind of personifies that. Representing a round-up of rare singles and b-sides from across their entire two decades or so of activity - this LP is a jumble of just about every style that Powersolo purvey. The surf garage, the latin gumbo, Exotica, proto-punk, psychobilly, country, and whatever the flip lies in between - all wrapped in a greasy analogue warbling smoking jacket of grime, vibrato and trashy guitars.
I’d go as far as to say that some of my favourite Powersolo cuts are on here where they are otherwise only found in person or in low-res YouTube clips; opener “Step Back” sets the pace as a nearly Modern Lovers proto-punk rouser. “Jungle Mungle” from last year’s “Peek-a-bo” E.P. takes you to the Tiki Bar on ludes, and perpetual live favourite (of mine) “Posessed By Bo Diddly” conjures the jungle beat if you dug up Link Wray in Copenhagen and made him dance with your spicy granny.
You don’t have to try before you buy - if you’re a fan of anything nasty, retro, kitschy, or groovy this disc has probably got you covered. This music is best played on a spinning black disc and irresponsibly. your friends will hate it - which is why you just gotta crack the seal on this ultimate party in a can of an LP.
Available now everywhere you’d expect.

Snake & Jet's Amazing Bullit Band - Planetary Dawn
https://soundcloud.com/crunchy-frog/snake-jets-amazing-bullit-band-planetary-dawn/s-MwGs9
Sometimes you just need a tune to assist you in not giving a fuck about what the rest of the world is currently up to. There’s tracks out there that pulls you away from time & place - puts you in a nice comfortable bubble and closes the door to reality for a proper life-timeout.
'Life timeout’s’ aren’t shitty, they’re wonderful. Just like the teacher would send you out of the classroom for a timeout to not disturb the class - you got that whole hallway for yourself, no worries, no need to pay attention to something you weren’t interested in - the only concern you’ll have is you know when the tune ends and the teacher is gonna ask you back into the real world - there’s a shitstorm coming.
The good thing about this track is that it’s going to be part of a 25-year Anniversary release by Danish label Crunchy Frog notorious for having brought great alternative acts into this world, so I’m pretty sure there’s going to be good opportunity to escape the real world for a little while longer than the 4 minutes this track is spinning.
The album will be released digitally and on vinyl on Friday 13th September and contains a new track from each of their 16 active artists.
I haven’t talked much about what actually goes on in this track - I don’t think I’ll need to also, if you’re on this blog I’m 99% certain you’ll enjoy it. But for those of you out there who likes to know what you’re getting yourselves into, the bands own description of the track is pretty solid:
“it feels like The Doors, Moon Safari-era Air, and Carl Sagan are jam-guiding you through an acid trip inside the cockpit of a spaceship. “
Snake & Jet's Amazing Bullit Band are a duo from Copenhagen, Denmark, who were a part of graphic arts collective, and started putting on shows at art galleries before coming to the attention of our record label, Crunchy Frog. Since then, they've put out three albums, and this is the first single since 2012's Stuff That Rotates. Where the previous album had more of a 60's, summery psych feel, they have experimented with prog and acid rock elements on 'Planetary Dawn'.
