Popiah 🌯 (薄饼) is a fresh, Chinese-style spring roll popular in Southeast Asia, consisting of a thin, paper-like soft wheat flour crepe wrapper 🫓 spread with a layer of sweet and sticky sauce then filled with various ingredients like cooked jicama, egg, bean sprouts and crushed peanuts. It is a versatile dish that can be a main meal or part of a snack spread. In Taiwan 🇹🇼, popiah 🌯 is called Run Bing (润饼) in Mandarin and their fillings can contain meat unlike those found in Malaysia 🇲🇾 and Singapore 🇸🇬 which are typically vegetarian.
