#TodaysLessonOnRacism Some seemingly passive acts are rooted in longtime racist biases. The effect on the receiver is anger, shock and/or disappointment. It is the source of why POC contemplate interactions much longer than others. Today I asked a @walmart employee to confirm a displayed sale price included all of the items displayed. She confirmed. In my effort to purchase one of the items I was told the price was for purchasing two and the price one item rings is the individual price. None of that information was displayed and the employee did not find it necessary to tell me the sale conditions before I arrived at the counter. Some might think, "What's the big deal?". People of color or more likely to recieve partial answers when asking questions as some with biases feel less compelled to provide all information up front. I was annoyed but not damaged. The price rang as half the sale price but the employee felt it necessary to give me "all the rules" at the register before ringing.
