Being in a neurodivergent partnership is amazing, in this context I mean just for how understanding things can be.
When I cross stitch, I can get overstimulated to the point of extreme nausea by the sensation of the needle sliding against my fingers, so I bought these little latex 'cradles' (I keep calling them finger condoms, which gives an idea of what we're looking at) to wear. Unfortunately, they're so thin, the issue remains, but I've been able to use their slight tackiness to not grip the needle as tightly, which is helping with the sensation.
But when my partner came home, and asked how I was finding them, they took one look at my face and said something to the effect of "they're too thin to stop the feeling, aren't they?" And the fact that my partner immediately knew what the issue was and understood it was just so nice and reassuring.
