It  had  been  a  SIMPLE  request  or  so  she  thought,  but  the  numerous  messages  timed  at  exactly  five  minute  intervals  between  perhaps  suggested  otherwise.  Plans  were  plans  and  not  to  be  faulted  however  there  had  been  a  nagging  reminder  from  a  shared  voice  that  echoed,  “ PLAY  NICE ”  with  an  attempt  to  bond.  

In  the  middle  of  a  battlefield. One  crafted  of  violent  holograms.   Cerberus  holograms.  

She  sighs  heavily,  fingers  tapping  along  her  omni-tool:     [  YOU  SAID  THAT  TWENTY  MINUTES  AGO.  ]

Bonding,  what  a  farce...    and  yet  some  of  the  closet  moments  she  spent  with  the  raging  biotic  were  ones  whilst  crushing  the  skull  of  their  enemies.  The  announcer  booms  overhead  and  it’s  a  moment  that  she  figures  headshotting  the  effigies  of  her  former  employer  would  be,  well,   rather  cathartic.

.   there’s a slight, barely noticeable curl of her lip that betrays otherwise placid features. “sounds fishy to me, but i’ll see what i can dig up, i promise.”

                                shepard  isn’t  too  big  to  admit  when  she  isn’t  sure  about  something.    she  makes  the  best  decision  she  can,  with  the  information  available  at  the  time,  and  it  doesn’t  always  go  the  way  she  wants.    but,  when  it  comes  to  legion  .  .  .  .    it’s  complicated.    selling  the  geth  unit  to  cerberus  immediately  seemed  wrong,    and  so  did  leaving  it.    geth  have  only  ever  tried  to  kill  her  in  the  past,  but  they  didn’t.    hell,  legion  was  a  crackshot  and  took  out  husks  instead  of  trying  to  blow  her  head  off.    addressed  her  by  name,  even.       it  was  strange,  and  unusual;    but  it  had  to  count  for  something,  even  if  she  wasn’t  exactly  sure  what  that  was  yet.      maybe  it’s  crazy  to  have  activated  a  geth  aboard  her  ship,    but  it  falls  into  the  long  line  of  crazy  and  questionable  situations  she’s  had  to  navigate.    this,  at  least,  is  on  her  terms;    not  someone  else’s,  for  once.        ❞

                                for  now,  she’s  doing  her  best  to  treat  it  with  the  same  code  of  conduct  she  treats  everyone  else  on  the  ship.    it  hasn’t  given  her  a  reason  to  distrust  it,  yet.    maybe  it  never  will;    and  it’s  that  thought  that  keeps  bugging  her,    for  better  or  for  worse.    that  doesn’t  keep  her  from  letting  her  guard  down,  and  EDI  is  always  on  stand-by.       ❝        you’ve  still  got  a  hole  in  you.    if  you  were  going  to  take  my  armor for repairs,    you  could’ve  used  it  a  bit  more  logically,  yeah?      i  still  …      don’t  get  that.      or  why  you  were  looking  for  me,  specifically.      you  know  what  i’ve  done.      i  could  have  killed  you  on  sight,  or  hell,  cerberus  was  willing  to  pay  a  lot  of  credits  for  you.      seems  like  a  pretty  big  gamble  to  try  and  find  someone  that  wouldn’t  be  happy  to  see  you.          ❞

The offices are quiet now, mostly. So really, it shouldn’t be hard for him to focus on filling this formal mission report out. But for the past hour or so Damien has been distracted by the hard line of Quinn’s shoulders, reflected in the glass of this desk’s second monitor that he never uses. Sighing, because he isn’t going to get any work done with this worrying, he pushes back and spins his chair across the aisle, stopping just behind her to reach out and rest his hands on her shoulders, pressing his thumbs in to go for the knots he just knows she must have by now.

@cryochronism​​  liked the starter call and didn’t ask for Quin and Shepard but is getting it anyway!

This planet is far off the beaten path, so to speak, to the point that Shepard’s crew flew past it more by accident than with any real purpose. Until, that is, they received the distress signal barely cutting through the static of the storms that seemed to be raging in patches across the planet. Even from the distance the Normandy has from breaking any atmo at any time, they could understand the panic that came through with the message, too sincere to sound like a trap - and even if it was, they’ve gotten out of worse.

It was tricky, but Joker pulled through, landed in a clear area, and Samantha, Miranda, and Garrus made their way to the source of the signal. With a closed fist, Samantha pounds on the door with one hand while she tries the intercom beside it, hearing static through it but hoping they could hear her. “This is Commander Shepard with the SSV Normandy. We received your distress call. Do you need assistance?”
