Montauk Monster- a mysterious raccoon-like creature that washed upon a beach near Montauk, NY. Many people don’t think its a raccoon. Personally, I just think its ugly.
Montauk Project - conspiracy theory based around the belief that the US government is developing and testing weapons for psychological warfare and experimenting with time travel.
Plum Island- secret island that the government used to develop diseases for biological warfare- it’s rumored Lyme Disease escaped from this island.
Other Urban Legends:
Champ- Basically Nessie but in Lake Champlain
57 W. 57th Street Penthouse Haunting- Murders, ghosts, and disappearances. Your classic haunting, imo.
Cropsey- “ Cropsey was the escaped mental patient who lived in the old abandoned Willowbrook Mental Institution, who would come out late at night and snatch children off the streets. Sometimes Cropsey had a hook for a hand, other times he wielded a bloody axe, but it didn’t matter, Cropsey was always out there, lurking in the shadows, waiting to get them.”
Sewer Gators- Self explanatory.
Van der Voort sisters- Ice-skating, spinster ghosts.
Mole People- theories of full-on underground societies.
The Cardiff Giant- described as America’s Greatest Hoax, the Cardiff Giant was a fake 10ft. tall “petrified” man.
Liberty Island Treasure- a pirate by the name of William Kidd is said to have burried treasure on Liberty Island.
Hudson River Ghost Ship- it is believed the sight of this ship is an omen for d e a t h.
