Spotting cryptid shyan:

Cycle through radio channels as quickly as possible at 3 AM in the morning, listen to the static whispers- they’ll lead you to cryptid!Ryan. He is always listening in. He’ll notice you looking. 

Better luck spotting cryptid!Ryan first. He is as curious of your plane of existence as you are his. Approach respectfully, his curiosity does not mean he is not wary 

When one comes, the other is soon to follow. You’ll spot cryptid!Shane soon enough through the gait of his walk. Do not remark on his eyes or teeth, he’ll be tempted to frighten you for fun.  

Tell him your fears, worries and concerns and he will digest them whole

Ask him for a song and he will oblige. It will not be in a language you understand. Your head will buzz and tingle, do not be afrAID. he will convince cryptid!Ryan to join in, but cryptid!ryan will need your hands for that. Place them on the curves of cryptid!shane’s horns. He’ll guide you.

If electronics emit static and high pitched whining at odd intervals even when they’re supposed to be ‘off’, please do not be alarmed. They are checking up on you. 

Don’t point it out if you see them tap their teeth and lack of mouth together at times. Do not fret if their voices intermingle and you can’t discern which is which. They belong. 

They will give you ideas that seem to conflict but come together nonetheless in coexisting point. Take the option that feels the most right for you. One would be smug and the other would be exasperated but do not worry, they are familiar with existing in the middle. Together. 

Ask for protection when walking unknown paths and still yourself when you feel your hairs standing on end. That is them splaying their hands over your heart. Listen to your instinct. Remember survival. Do not linger. 

They rest at dawn, their exit covered once more by static and a distant radio channel flickering. Knitting the fabric of their existence in a steady beat, ebbing and flowing like the breathing of a lover. Leave them be. Do not turn back to watch. You would be intruding then.

Cryptid!Ryan Concepts: 

Audio distortions and static curling around your fingertips 

Languages filtering through in ancient tongues that don’t quite make sense

The frustration and anticipation of being on the cusp of discovering answers to questions you haven’t voiced

Cryptid concepts:

There are three things you must never give the dead-eyed people you meet near the woods: 

Your name.  Your breath.  The secrets behind your eyes. It’s not that they mean you harm- no. They would never.  They just want. They want and want and want. And you’ll give until you have nothing left to give. 

Avert your gaze and dip your head in passing. Keep going until the path diverges, do not worry when you hear the shuffling of feet. You have to keep going. Listen for the distant hissing of steam engines. Follow the rumbling of the tracks and wait. 

Close your eyes. Focus on the rush of warmth clearing out the hollowness of your bones and you’ll see him when the train nears. Hold your breath and reach for cryptid!Andrew’s hand when he extends it to you. It’s okay. He has you. He’ll take care of you. No fear of falling. It’s time to go home.

Cryptid concepts:

Do not be discouraged if you do not spot them immediately. It takes time and changes to the alignment of planes that run parallel to yours in order for you to be able to catch fleeting glimpses between your world and the next. 

Remember. You may not be able to perceive them with sight, but that does not necessarily mean they are not there. That does not mean they do not notice your attempts to make contact. 

Annie flits in between frames and lingers in the morning fog, a silent watchful companion that remains a constant through the passing of time. Adam warms the fatigue of your bones with familiar sentiment, feather soft against your finger tips when you run them across items that speak of home and safety. 

Rie collects the essence of the tears you’ve shed and unravels the tangled knot of your racing thoughts. Her cold touch fluid when you press your hands against your face. Together, you rebuild and begin again- Your frustrations woven into a tapestry of experience. Sweet. Bitter. But real and entirely yours. 

Andrew visits in memories as distant shapes, phrases, creatures, objects- he never sticks to one. Pay attention to the constants. He is the anchor you can hold on to when the waves threaten to overwhelm you. Hang on and you will breach the surface again. You won’t always be stuck. 

Steven’s touch is electricity in it’s purest form. You’ll know he’s there when your forearms tingle, collecting against the base of your abdomen. Bright and brilliant. Yes, so many things could go wrong. But so many things could go right too. He’s here with you as you take your first steps into new ventures and he’ll be here with you to see it through. 

Ryan listens in. He’s always listening. If you focus, you may register gentle taps upon your scalp- the tone of his voice lightly scratching against your head, mingling in against the backdrop of your favourite songs. Breathe deep, you’ll be okay. 

Shane rests his hand against the heaviness of your heart and extricates the detritus so you breathe easy again. He likes to tease so do find forgiveness in you when you remember memes in clarity at the oddest of times or silly little moments that you thought you’ve forgotten. He’s here with you when you throw yourself into shenanigans. When you feel the most alive. 

You are not alone. You were never alone. They’ve been here the whole time. They haven’t left. Not unless you wish them to do so. And when you can finally perceive them with your sight, you know they’ll be here to guide you as always.

Cryptid Concept: 

Unlike the others, Cryptid!Steven isn’t subtle about his approach. He could be quiet, but his presence is almost always known immediately. Follow the fireflies lighting your way down the path and duck your head when you step across the stone arches. You will come across stairs- leading up, leading down, but never to any destination that you can see. Skirt around them, do not be tempted to take the steps. That is not a path you should be taking.

Keep your head held high. Ignore the whispers reaching for you from the recesses of your mind and go on ahead. You grant power to the voices you listen to. They hold no sway over you here. Not when you’re on the cusp of realisation. Venture forward. You mustn’t stop just yet. He’s waiting. 

Slow your steps when you reach the edge- where moonbeams and starlight collide in a wash of brilliant blinding cold. Stay. Be not afraid. Lean down and extend a hand, reach for the man with universes in his eyes and hold your breath when Cryptid!Steven breaks through the surface to reach for you.

Close your eyes and hold on tight. The breaching of planes have never been the most comfortable of tasks, but you’ll make it through all the same. Keep your eyes closed until your world and sense of bearings shift into it’s rightful place. You’ll know that you’re here when you feel the tepid sensation of pins and needles running through you. Cryptid!Steven forgets to adjust his output in the face of his enthusiasm, but you do not have to worry. It doesn’t hurt. 

"You’re here!” His exclamation is one of jubilation when he tugs you forward. “C’mon, I’ve got so much to show you. You’ll like it- promise.”

Spotting cryptid!stadamdrew

The best time to make contact would be the night before you embark on a trip or start a new chapter of your life. Where you’re on the cusp of change

Turn on the television and let it’s dim lighting wash over you. Set out a table of snacks with three extra seats for them and place on a documentary

Choose your documentaries wisely. While cryptid!andrew does not have a specific preference, certain choices are ill advised 

Do not be alarmed when the subjects of your chosen documentary notice you. They mean you no harm. They are curious about you. 

Do not panic when the temperature of your room drops. Make no sound lest you disturb the process. Allow the fog to form and take shape. 

Breathe it in, don’t worry it won’t hurt. Cryptid!Adam has no form of his own, allow him to settle beneath your skin like an old friend. Only then will you be able to hear him 

Make no remarks about the sequence in which they appear. Remember: Journeys are never linear. They seldom progress the way you want them to. Let them decide how to appear to you. They know what must be done. 

Do not be tempted to peer through the veil. You may follow if they allow it but leave when requested. It’s not your time. You cannot stay. Not yet.

Listen close. The noises will make sense soon enough. Cryptid!Adam speaks assurance, reminds you there is always a place for you to return to. Cryptid!Andrew speaks advice, tells you the paths those before you have taken, and the decisions you need to make to reach. Cryptid!Steven speaks of hopes and things that could fall right into your hands if you dared to venture ahead. Listen. Decide. 

Close your eyes. You may ask for comfort but do not jerk when you feel your skin prickle, a breeze against your nape, and dampness on your forehead. Cryptid!Steven forgets that humans are sensitive to the buzzing of his static energy in his enthusiasm sometimes, he does not mean to startle. Cryptid!Andrew prefers to rest his forehead against yours, just so he could huddle close and embrace all in his steady rhythm. Cryptid!Adam holds no solid form, he breathes behind. A reliable support. 

Go in peace. Focus your eyes on the sights before you. Take comfort in the feeling of home in strange places. Cryptid!Adam is watching over you and will continue to do so until you find your place in the universe. You will be alright.

Nimble hands that are often mistaken for the limbs of trees by birds and wildlife looking for shelter
