Headcanon prompt: Steven and Andrew planning a surprise for Adam’s birthday

I wanted to write this out earlier but it was when you were travelling and I wanted to wait till you got back home and now its super late BUT:

Steven and Andrew have been planning for months. They got the idea after they filmed in Australia.

Adam just really loved filming the wine episode and exploring the wineries and they realized it would be the best surprise for Adam’s birthday. 

Napa Valley is the place TO GO for wine in California, but it tends to cater to those with much more money than Andrew or Steven make, plus that’s really not their style, so they choose Sonoma Valley.

Steven and Andrew also decide that if they’re going to make this trip, they’re going to relax, no work, no hassles, just chill time. Adam does so much for them, for Buzzfeed, and for everyone else, he deserves a break.

They rent a cabin in the valley called Redwood Retreat for a week, a cosy place with no cell reception (but still has WiFi just in case), fully furnished and within walking distance of a cute cafe and fairly close to a few wineries by car, it was perfect.

A month before their trip, Steven and Andrew tell Adam to ask for the week of his birthday off from work, but that is all. They secret eats up Adam for an entire month; what could it be? What do his boyfriends have planned for him, why a whole week??

When the week comes they all pile into Steven’s car, their usual seats, with printed driving instructions, not going as far as blindfolding Adam for the 6 hour drive to their cabin, but begging Adam not to ruin the suprise by guessing.

Adam, being the loving boyfriend that he is, keeps most of his guesses internal, Los Padres National Forest passes by, as well as San Jose and San Francisco and by hour 5 he get antsy. 

“Can I at least get a hint?”

“Where’s the fun in that?” Steven asks, turning around to smirk at him.

Adam groans loudly, “ You two are the WORST.”

“You’re going to love it.” Andrew says. “Trust us,” Steven continues.

Adam nods off and in what feels like not much longer, he’s woken up by Steven petting his hair and gently shaking his shoulder, “Babe, we’re here.”

When he blinks awake they’re surrounded by the rich green of trees and out the window he sees a warm, inviting cabin. 

If they told him they magically jumped to a fairy tale land, he would have believed it, it was so serene as picturesque, the air clear with the faint scent of pine and slightly warm air clearing his sleep addled brain.

Steven rounds the open car door to him, grinning and pulling him in by the waist, hands finding his lower back, “Happy Birthday, do you like it?”

Adam smile is all teeth, bright and beautiful. He’s happy he didn’t ruin the surprise by prodding for answers. “This is amazing. Where are we?”

Andrew walks up to them from Adam’s right, backpack slung over his shoulders. He rakes his left hand up Adam’s head, fingers massaging his scalp briefly, “Sonoma Valley. We’ve got a wine tour and tasting scheduled soon.”

Adam grins wider, if that’s even possible. Steven kisses his cheek, “Mmm, we knew you’d love that! Ready to be wined, dined, and ravished for a week?”

Adam laughs, pulling Steven, then Andrew in for a kiss. “Well if you insist.”

Andrew’s smile is more gentle, bringing his hand down to cup the side of Adam’s face, “Oh, we do.”

His heart warms at the attention. With all the work they do they rarely get a moment to pause and touch, not for long. It’s just he needed, what they all need. “Thank you, I love you both.”

Andrew strokes Adam’s cheek, “Love you.” Steven’s hold gets a little tighter around his waist, squeezing him lightly, “Love you too babe.”

Stadamdrew headcanons: Flirting 

Steven

Is confidently flirtatious but relatively harmless unless you’re Andrew

His flirting style is extremely cheesy as well as affectionate so it often brings a smile to both Adam and Andrew

He intentionally exaggerates it sometimes just so he could make them laugh and it warms his heart to see his boys happy

Will still 100% ask if he could hold hands with/kiss his partners each time he wants to because verbal consent reassures him that things are okay with them the most 

Andrew

Is the awkward flirt of the bunch- both Adam and Steven finds it cute

His flirting style consists of a lot of puns and clever wordplay. Steven groans each time but it’s apparent that he enjoys them anyways 

He’s the type to try to playfully poke or wrestle them but also embrace and keep them close to him.

Will 100% place affectionate kisses on the base of their shoulders/necks and play-bite when he’s particularly emotional/fond

 He doesn’t disturb Adam when he’s working with equipment though. There’s nothing in this world that’s more painful than being on the receiving end of a disappointed Adam™ stare

Adam 

Don’t be fooled by his quietness, he’s the pro at flirting out of the trio

Can easily fluster Steven by turning his compliments and lines back on him ( “How’s the cutest boy in this room? I don’t know. How are you, Steven?”)

He doesn’t vocalise his feelings very often but when he does, it’s the sweetest thing they can ever hear

He’s very careful and gentle when initiating a request for affection (sliding his hands over to take hold of both Andrew and Steven’s lightly, only doing so properly when they reach back etc)

Leaves really sappy notes for both Andrew and Steven to discover frequently.

I’m rereading my Stadamdrew headcanon thing where they go on a trip for Adam’s birthday and it got me thinking. I hypothesized that when they were in Nashville it was Adam’s birthday based on this photo. If THAT is true and they literally only went to film at Bolton’s, the stadamdrew birthday event is canon 😍😍😩💞

Concept: Andrew learns to whittle. Steven likes to watch because there’s something both relaxing and exciting about the way Andrew handles knives. Adam likes to take photographs of Andrew’s finished results, but also the process of whittling along with Andrew’s quiet focus and Steven’s riveted staring.

Spotting cryptid!stadamdrew

The best time to make contact would be the night before you embark on a trip or start a new chapter of your life. Where you’re on the cusp of change

Turn on the television and let it’s dim lighting wash over you. Set out a table of snacks with three extra seats for them and place on a documentary

Choose your documentaries wisely. While cryptid!andrew does not have a specific preference, certain choices are ill advised 

Do not be alarmed when the subjects of your chosen documentary notice you. They mean you no harm. They are curious about you. 

Do not panic when the temperature of your room drops. Make no sound lest you disturb the process. Allow the fog to form and take shape. 

Breathe it in, don’t worry it won’t hurt. Cryptid!Adam has no form of his own, allow him to settle beneath your skin like an old friend. Only then will you be able to hear him 

Make no remarks about the sequence in which they appear. Remember: Journeys are never linear. They seldom progress the way you want them to. Let them decide how to appear to you. They know what must be done. 

Do not be tempted to peer through the veil. You may follow if they allow it but leave when requested. It’s not your time. You cannot stay. Not yet.

Listen close. The noises will make sense soon enough. Cryptid!Adam speaks assurance, reminds you there is always a place for you to return to. Cryptid!Andrew speaks advice, tells you the paths those before you have taken, and the decisions you need to make to reach. Cryptid!Steven speaks of hopes and things that could fall right into your hands if you dared to venture ahead. Listen. Decide. 

Close your eyes. You may ask for comfort but do not jerk when you feel your skin prickle, a breeze against your nape, and dampness on your forehead. Cryptid!Steven forgets that humans are sensitive to the buzzing of his static energy in his enthusiasm sometimes, he does not mean to startle. Cryptid!Andrew prefers to rest his forehead against yours, just so he could huddle close and embrace all in his steady rhythm. Cryptid!Adam holds no solid form, he breathes behind. A reliable support. 

Go in peace. Focus your eyes on the sights before you. Take comfort in the feeling of home in strange places. Cryptid!Adam is watching over you and will continue to do so until you find your place in the universe. You will be alright.

Adam getting all the love and attention this season is filling me with delight. It’s not so much dragging him into the limelight, but the clear appreciation and inclusion of the “tech/camera guy” just makes me so happy.

I know right??

Like, they might just be responding to comments.

But I’d like to think (in my dramatic mind) it’s them making a point to mention/include Adam. Imagine Adam offhandedly saying the shows all about them, he doesn’t matter, cause he believes that. 

And then Andrew and Steven making a face of like confusion and disbelief. Adam is so important to what the show is, he mean so much more to them, how can he honestly think that he doesn’t matter??

So they’re making sure that he and everyone knows how much Adam means to them.

"#i actually had some more but i didn't want to make it longer" Joooooyyyyyyyyyy, Give! Us! More!!! (I mean, if you want to)

Sorrrrry this took so long! This is in reference to my domestic airbnb headcanons.

I had two more ideas:

When they first started their long month of trips they decided that a different person did laundry each week to same time, water, and they wouldn’t be fighting over the laundry machine, and it’s only fair that all of them do it at least once. 

Andrew quickly took the task of doing their laundry each week after one of his sweaters wasn’t washed properly. (Adam apologizes by making them homemade pizza for dinner)

Steven and Adam decide to help by folding the laundry together when their all done. 

(Which ends up causing a spat over how to properly fold socks.)

Sometimes one of them holes up in their room for some reason; sometimes Andrew’s depression makes him not want to move, wishing the bed would swallow him whole; sometimes all the socializing they do gets to Steven and he feels wrung out, needing time alone; sometimes Adam needs to stop feeling like people are constantly watching him, the closed door centering him. 

When this happens the two others write caring and encouraging notes, with the promise of a kind ear and food for when they come out. They slip it under the door, hoping the holed up one knows they’re loved. 

They know.
