mkay so a friend sent me this post about Love...

The last episode only shows one woman the entire episode and she’s dead, mutilated, naked, and tied up. I can handle normal Gore but that just felt next level misogynistic to only have one woman shown the entire episode and she’s dead and mutilated in a sexy way and I feel like that deserves a warning in it’s own right and wouldn’t have watched that episode if I’d known how misogynistic it is

yeah that is very true. I have discussed the episodes more in depth with another friend who watched it and I have come to the conclusion that my standards for animation stories are way lower than my standards for normal stories? mostly because I judge first and foremost by “oh art pretty!!!!” and then secondly by “huh I guess a story is happening? is there anything in it that aggressively makes me unable to watch this?” and the only one that came close to that for me was Helping Hand. I was mostly trying to pull together a list of “gore/violence or no gore/violence” and “sex or no sex” and letting people have their opinions of their own beyond that, but considering More People than the 2 or 3 I expected to actually see and care about my post seem to have seen and care about my post, I will at add that to my list? like, if people are using my list as a serious filter than I have the responsibility to update it so it’s a slightly more serious filter. 

the series is defs overarchingly male-dominated as a whole -- there are 5/18 (not counting ones where all characters are robots) where there are male characters and no female characters whatsoever? and glancing over it I don’t think there are any at all -- I mean maybe Sonny’s Edge and Suits depending on how much you count needing to talk and be developed as being a character, Helping Hand if heard and developed but not seen doesn’t count -- where there are actually more female characters than male ones, and all the rest are very skewed to more male characters? like. it’s a pretty male-centric series in the first place. and they don’t terribly deal with topics that included rape well. so by the time I got to the end I was not expecting much in terms of there being anything meaningful in gender balance or gender commentary.

They were a stretch goal of the Book 2 kickstarter, backers got the option to add them on to our orders. They will be in the store once the kickstarter rewards all go out though, I think. ^_^

09: kiss on the first date?I’ve never been on an Actual Date but I’m pretty sure the answer would be “no”.

18: ever liked someone you thought you didn’t stand a chance with?Yeahhhh...a couple of times. Pro tip, spending months or years pining after someone is a shitty way to live, I don’t really recommend it. But also don’t regret that I am not with one of those people (all of whom are happily married). My life would be a lot different.

27: would you rather have starbucks or jamba juice right now?At this precise moment I’d prefer sleep to either of those, it’s kinda late for sugary drinks. But I haven’t had jamba juice for years, so that’d be nice. 

36: favorite color?It changes a lot? Right now red is my go-to happy color, but blues and greens are always good too.

45: has anyone ever told you that you have pretty eyes?I feel like someone may have at some point, but I can’t recall a specific instance at the moment.

If that’s a pointseta plant I’m pretty sure they’re poisonous to cats so careful if you live with cats and maybe keep it where they can’t reach it!!

Yeah, it is - that’s part of why I’m not sure what to do with it, because if I take it home the cats might get into it! But if I keep it at work whoever gave it to me (I don’t know who did it, it was on my desk yesterday when I came in) might feel like I don’t appreciate it. Soooo who knows, maybe I can find somewhere at the house that the furry creatures can’t get to it.

On a brighter note, when I asked my housemate about it she said she’d heard that was maybe an exaggeration. So I looked it up, and it turns out they’re only mildy poisonous. (Still not fun for the kitties, of course, but not as bad as it could be). Anyway, thanks for looking out for my cats!

See, I’ve seen it floating around and been tempted, but I don’t know that I want to commit to another “draw and post something every day” challenge so soon after Inktober. Plus it seems like something I’d have to do digitally (because I don’t have traditional media in all of those specific hues, and trying to mix pigment to match a digital color wheel seems like a pain) and I’m soooo slow at digital art.

But yeah, it does seem like a cool challenge! Maybe someday. For now, even though I keep feeling like I should be doing something, it’s nice to just...have the option to draw in pencil, or poke at one of my fanfic WIPs, and not feel like I’m taking time away from what I have to do.

Also as a little side note, since Inktober is done now I think I’m going to do another “pleeeeease take some of my art” giveaway soon...my little art box is getting full! I’ll do a post about that sometime this weekend hopefully.

Oooh, yes! I didn’t manage to get the hot drink in there, but let’s imagine it’s just out of sight. Also, I’m pretty sure Sigrun’s knife-cleaning technique is not in any way accurate, do not try this at home XD.

You should, it’s pretty tasty! I also like to put peas in it sometimes, that’s something I picked up from a former housemate.
