Konan, Konan, Konan .... Had the comment been uttered by one of his MALE allies, perhaps Hidan’s reaction may have been a little bit more combative. Rather than biting back, the Reaper Man swung his gaze lazily to lock eyes with her. Target acquired - cue the smug lift of the lips. 

      ❝ Well excuse me for being 𝑝𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑒. ❞  He replied, features crying wolf       as he pretended the jab had wounded his ego. She’d have to do a lot better       than that to penetrate those walls, especially since they were coming from       someone he perceived as so { 𝑑𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑒 } .

 ❝ You could sure benefit from a little passion in your life too, Konan. I know it kinda goes against you and your ‘boyfriend’s’ whole tough guy act but - wouldn’t kill ya to SMILE every once and a while, eh? ❞ 

Overconfidence takes the helm as the man lifts his arms in an expression of welcome, the Akatsuki robe parting further in the middle to expose more of his bare chest. Typical peacocking. 

         ❝ Allow me to help! Take me up on my little offer from before .... ❞ He trails as though she’s supposed to be capable of putting the pieces together herself. Shouldn’t be too difficult to recall considering the two have had such few interactions - still - in and of itself the comment can’t help but come across suggestive. A few beats pass before he offers the answer:

       The stench of food left uneaten hangs in air so utterly still, the Cardinal hesitates to disturb it. The other clergy members, out of commission or not, have a habit of disappearing from the dinner table as soon as possible, Copia notes, casting a glance at Terzo’s plate in front of him, still full. The chair? Empty.

Copia prefers to enjoy the riches of a four course meal… including dessert. If anything, the cardinal is an opportunist. 

A shift in the room catches his eye, ripping him away from his thoughts of warm pies and fountain drinks to… a shadow laden…Secundo?

“Papa!” Fanculo. That was louder than he ever wanted it to be. Sputtering slightly, Copia tries in vain to correct his mistake, folding his embroidered napkin for something to do. “Papa. You startled me. I thought you had left after the others.”

Silence. 

“….staying for pudding?”

He cannot hear the echo of a pulse. Cannot smell the sanguine sweetness that would normally tempt him to take a bite if he were standing this close to anyone else. So she certainly isn’t lying about what she is.

He’s the first to admit that Los Angeles is a strange destination for him. Too much sun. Too many people. But here under the roof of the Hotel Cortez and in the company of Countess Elizabeth, he feels much more at ease. The tension in his shoulders slowly but surely melting away as the days go by. He just hopes that he hasn’t let his guard down too soon.

He walks side by side with her, footsteps muffled by the plush ruby carpet beneath their shoes. Her comment earns a chuckle from the man in the roman collar. And a thoughtful knit of his brow. 

“ I uh--- I can’t say that I personally had a whole lot of informed choice in the matter. Not as far as my initial turn went, anyway. ” Everything that happened after that? Well... He won’t go down that road tonight. Vampiric peer aside, she’s still a stranger. “ But given what I’ve seen --- uh, and done --- if sucking and fucking was your goal, I’d say you definitely made the right decision. ”

        “Oh  boo  hoo  –  you  dried  up  old  bag.”  Fiona  had  not  only  hurt  Madison  physically;  but  emotionally.  Something  that  she  was  sure  as  fuck  Fiona  didn’t  notice.  Madison  wasn’t  a  cold  hard  bitch  because  she  wanted  to  be  but  because  she  needed  to  be.  Deep  down  she  always  did  want  a  family;  a  mom  that  cared  more  about  her  than  her  money.  For  a  brief  moment,  she  felt  a  motherly  relationship  with  Fiona,  only  to  be  betrayed  once  again  just  as  she  was  stupid  enough  to  let  her  guard  down.  ‘If  I  wanted  to  listen  to  someone  cry  a  river  –  I’d  play  the  Justified  era  of  Justin  Timberlake.”

Trust? It’s true that he’s gotten really close to Kikyo but to say that he trusts her, that would be assuming too much. She was human after all, humans are a ruthless race. Not all of them, however, the only one he could have truly trusted was his mother, not only was kikyo a shrine maiden but she was also adept..or he should say annoyingly skilled with a bow. With the power she possessed she could end his life the moment he dropped his guard, whilst he can admit that he enjoyed the time he’s spent with he- no that is something he’ll never admit. He would quicker take a dirt nap than admit he’s had a nice time with a human.

He sat with a very feral posture, however, slowly but surely he managed to relax his posture and leaned his back against the wall of her hut, now his mind began to think of how ‘different’ Kikyo has been in comparison to other humans he’s seen. She’s helpful to the young and old, even regarding his own reputation in the village she didn’t look at him the way did, her eyes did not hold disdain nor pity for his cruel existence. The boy who traveled between societies but was a pariah within either.

That was the person she looked at as an equal, dammit because of THESE pesky thoughts his initial response had changed.annoyed with his own indecisiveness he might have blurted out his answer rougher than intended. “I don’t know alright.” Too harsh, his eyes opened for a moment noticing his response, his gaze turned towards her and then towards the side, a single one of his finger began to dangle against the inner edge of his ear. “Look, you’re different but it doesn’t erase the crap I’ve had to swallow for years. Just gimme a while.”

First impression were good and in truth he was more than ecstatic to hear about the hyena. Sure they were scavengers out in the wild but they looked cool, they had a fantastic laugh. Besides an African Safari sounded pretty fascinating. He had to hand it to Fazbear Entertainment this was almost as astounding as his Funhouse. Almost. (at least in the narcissistic panda’s mind).

When he enters the area he keeps a keen eye out for anything hyena like.

Suspicion and distrust were expected, especially since she was from a completely different shinobi system and village. However, she did her best to speak with honesty. After all, if things turned south, they could have an incident on her hands — the last thing she wanted was to bring any unnecessary trouble to Konoha. She felt as though her village had already gone through enough for one lifetime. Despite that, she still remained cautious, her body language speaking of the defense she now took. 

❝ Most lands have different herbs than you can find in Konoha, and I am in search of one that can aid me in creating an antidote for some of my comrades. ❞ She explained after a moment, seeing that there was no real reason to lie. ❝ I could not find the herb I was looking for in Sunagakure. I was hoping I could find it here. ❞

When his eyes shift back to meet with the girl’s, there’s a notable spark within them, pupils dilating almost twice their original size; all symptoms of the sudden rush of DOPAMINE that just surged throughout his body. 

  ❝ This is a sacred symbol. Only those who are truly committed to the way of Jashin are permitted to wear it. Anyone else would be considered a heretic, and sentenced to eternal damnation. Where I got this isn’t what’s important ...  ❞ A casual lean lessons the space between them, similar to when one is telling another a secret. You might call him dramatic - but Hidan would prefer passionate.

Recollection of that very night parodies something of a strange acid trip. Not exactly bad - but not quite pleasant either. Sense had no real meaning the night he pledged himself to Jashin. Had you asked Hidan to draw a timeline of the events, it would likely be different every time. The only uniform - the thing he knew with absolute certainty - was that the moment the ritual had ended, he no longer considered himself as mortal. He had been gifted; acknowledged as a higher being. He became treasured. Precious.
