manjoume hadn’t bothered to check the forecast for the evening — the darkness gradually spreading through the sky in a cautionary gradient told him all he needed to know; snow is on the way. most of the snowfall the academia had seen this winter had been insignificant; a thin blanket here or there, which usually melted away within a day or two. this time, however, will obviously be far more consequential, as the sun had already been choked out by complete darkness before five in the evening, and the main building of the academia had been closed down early to encourage students to stay inside for their own safety.
unfortunately, he hadn’t been able to make it back to the dorms in time. he had been in the academia’s library, looking for a particular title to help him study for the exams that were rapidly approaching the horizon line, when he’d been informed he’d have to stay here until further notice, as it’s too dangerous to go outside. defiant at first, he figured it couldn’t be as bad as the librarian was making it out to be, and that he could make it back to his dorm unscathed if he headed out soon. but a single glance through the nearest window has him rethinking that theory — almost nothing is perceivable beyond the flash of rushing white outside, and the storm moves so violently that surely the very minute he attempted to brave it, he’d be swept away. not to disregard the bitter cold he feels just by touching the pane. his lack of a proper jacket leaves him unequipped to even think about being in the elements, in this state.
defeated, the raven-haired boy throws himself indignantly down on one of the couches in the massive library’s common area. if only he had thought to head out earlier, he wouldn’t be stuck here for god knows how long, seemingly on his own — aside from the school librarian, apparently, but even she had mysteriously disappeared. it was foolish of him not to heed her warning.
after a few moments pass, however, manjoume senses movement between the shelves, and leans curiously forward to see just who had gotten themselves into a similar predicament. the familiarity of the figure that emerges is undeniable, and sable brows raise with surprise when johan andersen appears in his peripheral. he notices the other boy surveying the window, and he can’t help but scoff with irony, able to tell what the boy is thinking, as he himself had stood there just minutes before, thinking the same thing. well, looks like they’re stuck here together.
“ you’re not gonna get far, if you’re planning on going out there, ” he speaks up, one leg crossing over the other, and a foot resting on the table, “ believe me, i thought about it. the weather’s too crazy, neither of us would last five minutes. ”
