The bandicoot could feel herself become lighter at the sight of someone she respected, someone she very much looked up to and wanted to impress on a regular basis, gently bow to her and immediately compliment her. It was a great honour to be considered his favourite bandicoot, considering all his marsupial creations.

Then again, most of them were failures and worked against him... and he could have just been playing into Megumi’s own emotions and be kind to her, just to someday turn his back on her, if the texts she received were right. Was she truly being manipulated? Just witnessing how Neo acted right in front of her in his own domain, she could hardly even think of believing in the texts for a second.

“Well, uh, Doctor Cortex, I need some sort of answers for what’s going on. Excuse me if this is a lot.” She began speaking, growing more flustered. She swiftly pulled out her phone, fingers rapidly tapping as she looked back on the messages.

"I’m so sorry if this is really blunt, but someone told me you were a liar - that you were just going to treat me like I was important before throwing me away. They called you a traitorous fiend and said you lied to many others before me. Is that true, Doctor Cortex?”

She raised her head up from her phone, a visible sad expression on her face.

“She- she what?” While he was glad to hear that his nightmares may end soon, and that she was willing to go to such lengths for him, he was worried about her. Those laughs at the ends of each nightmare all sounded familiar, and if these individuals were who he thought they were, she could be in great danger. “She’s- she’s going to be fine, right? Do I need to find her and help her? Where is she? Where do I even start looking for her?”
