elaborating on my last post

meursault So has aspd. he seemingly experiences very shallow and fleeting emotions, and his most prominent emotion is usually frustration/anger. as seen by how easily he gets annoyed in the novel, and the ending scene where he lashes out at the chaplain in his only display of extreme emotion

in limbus the only emotion he's displayed thus far in the main story is frustration when dante asks him for an objective reason. he only faintly smiles once in the liu identity story, and the only other time he smiles off the top of my head is in his thumb capo identity when he's about to get into a fight he thinks will be fun.

violent tendencies is a common aspd symptom (which unfortunately result in the stereotype of Crazy Insane Murderer) and meursault very obviously exhibits those tendencies in his thumb capo identity, but that could just be because hes lei heng there. however he also has the regret ego, where his awakening line is literally "This straight-jacket… isn’t nearly enough to hold back my violence." another symptom of aspd (from what ive read from actual people with aspd) is viewing social interaction as a sort of game, with a winner and a loser. this is similar to how in the novel meursault talks about how people play a game with eye contact, and he's very good at this game.

his aspd symptoms are also displayed in his relationship with marie, with how he doesn't really understand her or the concept of love in general. of course people with aspd can still love other people, but from what ive read it's more about "my life would be worse without this person" and how their s/o positively affects their life. ive also read from pwaspd that it's hard to explain how they feel love, which aligns with meursault a lot imo but i could just be making things up with that part. a direct quote from (unfortunately) a redditor with aspd responding to a question about how they feel about their partner is "i don't think i feel love, at least not in the same way others do. i have desires though. without my s/o i would feel lonely, disconnected, and bored." and i think that sums up how meursault feels about marie pretty well

he also seems to have very low empathy, which could come from a combination of autism and aspd. theres obviously the whole thing with his reaction to his mother's death, and also how he pretty much says he isn't sad because it isn't his fault when talking to someone about it. and then almost says the same thing to marie but doesn't because he realizes that shell think hes weird

low empathy and violent tendencies and a general emptiness at all times and shallow emotions and a lack of "loving" feelings for his partner. This guy has aspd. i do not have aspd but i have other similarly stereotyped personality disorders so i am very passionate about this < guy with npd. to finish off this post take this image i made while doing research for this post

Ugh. I'm thinking about how Meursault's Regret (E.G.O) could be seen both, surface-level, as a representation of Meursault's violence/homicidal urges (since that's how Forsaken Murderer presents himself and how Meursault is perceived, as homicidal maniacs), but actually if you look deeper it might moreso be about some repressed regret... Perhaps even for the murder he committed... If they give him that... Or even not that, perhaps it's about the lore similarities of being A forsaken murderer... Please can we all see this. It's driving me insane

Anyway here's FM trying to corrode regret Meur by convincing him he's a heartless killer and prying into their similarities. And it's Laplace's Angel again. This one is not spectacular but I wanted to draw it so WHATEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
