Blue Lace Agate Geode v.s. Tumbled
Geode: I picked up this beauty just outside of Moab, Utah, and can’t wait to go back to the shop again! There are still a few bits of the surrounding rock fused to the outside of the crystal formation: Geodes generally form in hollow areas of soil, created as minerals seep into the protected cavern and condense into an outer-shell, and as shell then provides the dissolved minerals a safe air pocket, they then continue to form inside of it, free to create their perfect crystalline structures with little to no interference. Geodes where the crystals have grown together and created a solid form are called nodules, although this can take hundreds of millions of years for this to happen, so many of them remain hollow in a t least one portion. Quartz is the most common expression in geodes, but amethyst can also be found. Considerably rare geodes filled with agate are called thunder eggs. Although items like volcanic bubbles, tree roots, and animal bubbles create the safe spaces for geodes to form, they are most notably known and recognized by their plain outer formations, and were originally named In Greek, Geode or “Shape of Earth”, and these egg like castings can range from a few inches to several feet in diameter.
Blue Lace Agate: Agate has long been known as a protective stone, and one of deep creativity. This is amplified here, as the calming effects of the colors, blue, white, violet, and indigo- the most common expressions of the minerals which comprise this particular type of agate- align with the sixth, or third eye chakra known as Ajna. Lace Agate has been worn as a protective talisman for years and is still in working order today. As a 6.5-7 out of 10 on Mohs Hardness Scale, this micro crystalline quartz is perfect for cabochons, as well as shaped and drilled gems.
Tumbled Stones: perfect for holding, studying, and easily transportable samples, tumbled stones are soft, and smooth, provided the strength of the stone withstands that which it comes in contact with, they are safe to carry at your convenience, in a pocket, wallet, or purse. While specimens might be small, these stones contain the same atomic structure as larger samples and carry the same attributes. Regardless of how they are used, for comfort- in a worry stone- study, or spiritual use in a crystal grid, or medicine bag, tumbled stones are easily accessible and ideal to carry around at your leisure!
