Who’s ready for an AU ??

So @crzangel​ and I have been talking about this AU for the better part of like 3 hours. We would like for you all to indulge us, as we share in the Tododeku/RuPaul’s Drag Race AU.

For those of you who don’t know, I personally have been a fan of drag race since the very beginning. Yes, I watched season 1 on TV. I was 14 and my eyes were opened to a whole new world of magic and wonder. And CrzA has been keeping up with the most reason season. And we were nerding out over drag race when we came up with this gem of an AU. 

Ru Might, the number one drag queen who comes from a long line of amazing, versatile drag queens, has a reality tv show. The other Judges are as follows- 

Michelle Visage - Midnight 

Carson Kressley - Best Jeanist 

Ross Matthews - Present Mic 

And I wanna add Aizawa is deffo gonna be a guest judge as just Aizawa bc he’s famous somehow in that AU lolol. 

Enter our underdog, the young and Midoriya, also known as Izusagi. Izusagi is a mix between Blair St. Clair and Farrah Moan - incredibly cute and coquettish, but also has a sexy, playful side. Izusagi is known for her signature freckles, in and out of drag. She’ll paint on glitter freckles, stone freckles, or just accentuate her natural ones. The freckles are her thing. And out of drag, all the other contestants are like “who let this literal child in here” because she’s just so fucking cute. She looks up to Ru Might, having watched all her videos and studied her drag for ages and she hopes this show will give her the opportunity to show what she’s got and make a name for herself. 

And there are people who are excited Izusagi is competing, she’s got a couple fans. But the hype is no where near as huge as it is for Scarlet Winters (Todoroki). Scarlet is the youngest queen in the House of Endeavor, a house that dates back to literally the first balls in New York. Scarlet is very much like Violet Chachki and Aquaria - very fem, very high fashion, and polished. And her signature is her red and white hair, that’s not a wig. Yeah she uses her own hair (we’ve got some long haired todo in this au) and styles it all herself. And it leaves the judges gagging.

This season is stacked with some amazing queens. When the cast is announced, the favorites are automatically Scarlet Winters and Lea Million, she’s one of those queens who’s been around for a really long time (a la Mayhem Miller) but is finally like, ok I’ll compete! It’ll be fun~ And all of the queens are generally pretty friendly with each other (like season 8 and 9) 

When Izusagi goes into the Werkroom and sees Lea Million, she literally freaks out bc she also loves Lea’s work and they automatically become friends. And actually, people start paring them off together, because at first Shouto is all aloof and doesn’t really talk to anyone (much like how violet and aquaria were). 

But then there’s a challenge early on that’s about paying homage to the original drag houses and Shouto is torn bc of course he gets assigned the House of Endeavor, which he’s not trilled about. And Izuku notices that he’s like struggling in the challenge and Shouto reveals it’s because he doesn’t feel comfortable in his own house. 

So Izuku gives him a pep talk (their version of the “it’s your power speech”) and Shouto ends up winning the challenge and revealing during the critiques portion of the runway challenge. on national tv, all of the abusive things that went on in his house. Because the current head of the house is literally the fucking worst. 

And all the girls all hug Shouto, yes even Bakugou, but Izuku makes sure to get right up next to Shouto for a big hug. And this is where it all began. From that week on, they grew closer and closer, having a sort of flirtationship in the Werkroom. And when they get paired up in the group acting challenge as the ex-lover’s who are being interviewed by a Dr. Phil situation, they steal the show and win that challenge. 

More and more people start to be like... “Yo I think they like each other??” They notice how when the boys talk about each other during the solo interviews, it’s always in a positive and fond light, and every time Izuku says Shouto’s name there’s a light blush that spreads across his cheeks.

 And of course no one knows for sure, since the Ru girls had to keep the business of the show a secret for the months in between filming and the actual airing of the show. So the die hard fans go back and look at all of Izusagi’s insta posts and Scarlet Winters, and they notice that there is a surplus in likes and comments from each other during those months. 

And everyone is like “YOOOOO HOW DID WE NOT SEE THIS!?” So now everyone is on the edge of their seats, watching this romance unfold on tv. For a while, the boys stay safe, the elimination order so far being; 

Monoma, Sero, Tetsu, Ojiro, Tokoyami, Shinsou, Kami, Kiri

Then the week after Kiri’s elimination (Bakugou won’t admit he was upset about that one but he was) Izuku and Shouto end up in the bottom two, and Izuku immediately starts crying because he doesn’t want to lipsync against Shouto, but he wants to win so badly. The same goes for Shouto, he’s come so far and can’t give up now. 

They lip sync to Demi Lovato’s Sexy Dirty Love (pls do yourself a favor and listen to this song) and literally one of the best lip syncs in Drag Race Herstory. They start out as two separate performances, but as the song goes on, they stop singing to Ru and start singing to each other, until they forget there are other people in the room and are just like trying to express how they feel in their movements. 

And all the other girls are like wide eyed and can’t believe this is actually happening. It’s one of those moments where it cuts to the reactions of the other girls and they’re all like, 

“They are slaying!” 

“I can’t tell who’s gonna win!?” 

By the end of the lip sync, they’re holding each other just face to face, grinding on each other and just so desperate to feel the other’s heat. They also do that shit where they either death drop or do a split at the same time. And when the song ends, they are spent. Gasping for air as they grab the other’s hand and waits for Ru Might’s decision. 

“Shantay you both stay.” 

Ofc they’re crying and hugging each other because they really did lipsync their hearts out. And for the episodes after, it’s basically like “Are they gonna address the elephant in the room!? They obvs like each other!?” They’re past flirting. They move their werkstations next to each other and help each other with costumes. Every time they enter the werkroom they are arm in arm, and ever time they leave they hold hands. 

It’s basically one week of bliss (Aoyama gets sent home) before Todoroki finds himself in the bottom two again, this time he has to lipsync against Mirio, who is a literal lipsync assassin. Unfortunately for Shouto, he goes home the week before the top 4. 

When Ru announces that Shouto is going home, Izuku literally runs over to him in his high heels and gives him a huge hug and is crying. Mirio and Tenya give Shouto a hug, Bakugou does like, an awkward side hug and Shouto goes to make his exit. And just as he’s about to say one final tag line, Izuku breaks from the line of the top 4 and rushes to kiss Shouto. 

Everyone is G A G G I N G - The cast members, the judges, Ru herself, and the people watching at home. 

And Izuku and Shouto can finally tell the world, yes they’re dating! Because they’ve had to be secretive and separate during the time they weren’t allowed to disclose what went down during the show. They make cute insa posts about each other saying how they’re happy they can finally announce their relationship. And they’re of course at a viewing party together that night and they do an encore of the “Sexy Dirty Love” lipsync and it’s waaaaaaaaaay more sybaritic than the last one, ending with them literally making out for the last 15 seconds of the song. 

During the reunion episode, Ru brings up the relationship and how hard it was to keep it a secret. Izuku is tryin’ to be coy about it, but Shouto is all, “I felt like part of me was missing and now I’m so happy to have that part of me back.” And all the other Ru girls are awe-ing, except Bakugou. 

For the finale, Izuku and Shouto have matching outfits; Izuku wears red and Shouto wears green, glittering gowns . Of course, when Izuku has to lipsync he changes his outfit, but when they first appear on stage, they are matching ~ 

He actually does the first lipsync versing Tenya and he wears one of Shouto’s costumes - and he fuckin’ wins. Mirio wins against Bakugou, so it’s Mirio v. Izuku, a lipsync for the Gods. 

And as the story goes Izuku is crowned America’s next drag superstar, and somewhere out there, a young Kouta is inspired to do drag and auditions for the show many years later. 

So yeah! Izuku and Shouto live happily-drag-ever after, doing shows together and touring together and just being together!! Tododeku fits so well with drag race because as Mother always says “If you can’t love yourself, how the hELL can you love somebody else, can I get an amen up in here!??!?!” 

Amen!
