I'm finally reading through Beat to Quarters, and the way that Hornblower just can't not notice how hot Gerard is, is genuinely hilarious.
Even in the middle of a battle, he's just like "Damn he's beautiful."
Hornblower, our bisexuality icon of the sea.
Hey Hornblower fans. I really want to read the books but I do much better with physical books than digital ones. I've checked my local library's website and they don't have the series... do you think it is worth it to go there and request that they get it in? I can't really afford to purchase the books myself, and I rely on public transport so going to further away libraries that do have it would be a real hassle, which I'd like to avoid.
Hopefully some of you have advice for me. Thanks in advance!
rereading the Hornblower books because they do not make demands in these times, plus it had been 20 years since I read them, if at all
they are exceedingly gay in the way that books can only be if all the characters, plus the author, only ever heard of homosexuality as a flogging offense
the relationships are homoerotic and all, but perhaps the gayest thing about Hornblower is that he marries a woman he wasn’t even dating just because she likes him so much that he’s embarrassed not to, and for all he knows this is how you get a wife
I have started reading horatio hornblower and i adore this poor miserable midshipman. He’s 17, he’s gangly, he’s shy, he gets seasick, he’s good at math, and he cries himself to sleep. He’s my son I love him
Horatio: Since it’s impossible to know which point of my life is the middle, I’ve decided to have an ongoing crisis
it turns out drawing big smiles can noticeably improve your mood 10/10
WAIT I'M SORRY NO ONE WAS GOING TO TELL ME GREYHOUND WAS BASED ON A CS FORESTER BOOK???
