Hampstead is the Place to Ruralise as seen in The Terror

This song appears to have originally been written by Watkyn Williams in the 1860s, although it is strangely hard to find anything about it online! I have been able to find recordings of the full song, but I cannot parse what the singer is saying, so I only transcribed the part we hear in episode 6. This is sheet music for voice, tambourine, mandolin, and fiddle. In the show, a lute (I think? It's dark) is being played, but I know very little about the lute, so I used mandolin instead, as I am familiar with that.

Is it a bit anachronistic that Irving is singing this song in the 1840s? Possibly. Is it a bop, though? I think so!

If you prefer gamier leaner or more chewy cuts of meat (venison, elk etc.) vote Tozer. He’s a workhorse and under a lot of stress so the meat will be tougher with an imbalanced pH. Additionally he was stressed out constantly and poorly cared for so the meat would be a lot less palatable to most people, although if you were starving you might not mind it as much.

If you prefer richer and more tender cuts (beef, veal, etc) choose Franklin. His job doesn’t require the same kind of physical activity that Tozer’s does so the meat would be marbled and healthy. Happy Captain meat tastes better than scared Marine meat

I found a book that was begging me to buy it. This book was written, put here for me, particularly (/j), and then IT BAMBOOZLED ME.

When I saw this, I did a double-take. "Whoa, Jared Harris!?! Well, it's probably a historian with the same name...WAIT-" yeah I remembered he was Grant in Lincoln (2012). It's the Jared Harris.

BUT, the foreword in this printing is the same as the first edition! Jared Harris' foreword is literally not there. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HE SAID. WHY IS IT MISSING!? I CAN'T BE THE FIRST PERSON TO NOTICE THIS. WHY HAS THIS PUBLISHER SEEMINGLY GOTTEN AWAY WITH THIS FOR 7ish YEARS??!?!?!

The anniversary of Franklin's men abandoning their ships occurred recently. Once he left Erebus, James Fitzjames was on an unalterable course towards a knife digging into his jaw as he was dismantled by his suffering men. Around the same time, I watched a YouTube video essay about "Jane," the young woman who was discovered buried at Jamestowne with her skull destroyed by the clumsy hacking of someone desperate. We don't know her actual name. Along with her face and brain, those were taken away a long time ago.

The word researchers used to describe the first few cuts, knife-scratches, really, to Jane's forehead was "tentative." Hesitant, perhaps afraid to make the first decisive cut before starvation emboldened them. And I wonder if Fitzjames' men, too, were tentative as the knife sank into his skin.

So I doodled it, nothing exquisite. James and Jane, far from England, food for the cold and desperate.

For some reason Tumblr keeps trashing the quality no matter how I tinker with the file, but there are a few finer details if you click on it. Sigh.

All characters from the Terror on my Tomodachi Life island so far! Sorry for the low-res photos, I tried to upload my screenshots but my computer wouldn't read them.

These little guys (Silna, Goodsir, Hodgson, Irving, Little, Jopson, Des Vouex, Pilkington). Irving, Little, Des Vouex, and Pilkington were just added.

The captains! Franklin was just added because I added Captain Wentworh from Persuasion, copied his design, and then made him look older lol.

Some of my miis have gone through redesigns while I've had them. I am sure that more will be redesigned in the future (looking at you Des Voeux. There's something off but I haven't placed my finger on it yet), too. I've tried to make them all distinct as possible. You all have seen the memes. They are identical white guys. I was crashing out that Goodsir, Little, and Pilkington has the same bangs and hair color, but it was the best option. There were also SO many face-painted mini-sideburns 😭

Crozier & Fitzjames are married. Goodsir & Silna are dating. :)

I love my Jop so much, he's been through so much drama. Basically, everyone had a crush on him. He had a crush on Crozier TWICE but it ended after Crozier married. Jopson then dated William Bush from Hornblower, but then he dumped him for Hodgson! As of now, Jopson and Hodgson are still dating, but I don't think they will be for long...

He chose this 💀 horse-looking ass. I'm very happy that he's ultra friends with Goodsir. As you can see, he's also ultra friends with Octavius from Night at the Museum.

Fitzjames won and Jopson was the runner-up. Crozier voted for Jopson lmao. Goodsir is the one in the hat. The household is called HMS Lemongrab as a scurvy joke and Adventure Time reference :)

Nathaniel Bacon and Hodgson became friends over "massacring indigenous folks." This was horrible because I did not give them that topic to talk about; they chose it themselves out of ~50 possible options. Nathaniel Bacon was a guy in 1676, Virginia, who decided that a peace treaty with local Indigenous nations was stupid and started a war (called Bacon's Rebellion) with them because he wanted to take their land. These two need to be stopped good lord I was losing it when this happened.
