Might seem like a stupid question, but, how do you study as a CS student? Like, study methods etc that you have found to be helpful / productive etc? Have a lovely day! 😊
Hi! This is a pretty old question and I don’t know if you’re still around, but maybe someone will find this useful! 🙃 Studying for CS exams is quite different, because it’s mostly based on understanding everything. I also have a few different subjects, so I study differently for each of them.
🤓 For the subjects that involve coding: I usually go over every code snippet we wrote in class and make sure I understand everything. Sometimes I don’t have everything coded that I was supposed to have, so I try to talk to other students and see if they could show me their code so I could see how they solved the problem. I also watch a lot of youtube videos explaining difficult structures, ie. inheritence or pointers. I re-read my lecture notes if I have any, and that’s about it.
🤓 For the more theoretical subjects:I go over my lecture notes and the lecture slides if professor shared them. I make notes from lecture notes (yeah, it seems pointless, but I better remember stuff when I write them down). I also make notes from some old exam questions I got from students year above me. I use a lot of colors and highlighters. This will work great for you if you’re a visualizer. I always bring the notes I’ve made, so I could have a quick look at them right before the exam when I go into panic! mode and I’m like omgomg I don’t remember this or that. It really helps a lot with calming the nerves.
I almost never study in the day of the exam. I focus on chilling and drinking some camomile tee etc. The calmer you are, the better you think.I think that’s pretty much it. Hope this helped a bit! x
