Hi, Iâm Kelcy, and like most of you, I struggle endlessly to keep focused on my work, or to even start doing work. That I can say is one of my biggest problems, to get started. SO with a personal testimony that IT ACTUALLY WORKS, here are some tips and tricks on boosting your productivity.->
1. BUST OUT THOSE OLD INDIE ALBUMS.
Yees, Iâm talking Tame Impala, Astronauts, etc, Bonobo, Lofi Hip-Hop Mix, Hozier, Sufjan Stevens, hell even Korean Indie( which Iâm really into right now). The headphones/earphones will literally have you wired to your seat and give you a sense of complete focus because you are blocking out all sounds.
2. KEEP THE CEILING LIGHT OFF AND YOUR DESK LAMP ON.
Now that you have block out noise, you get to block out the rest of you environment (which is useful if you live in a noisy household like moi). Since the only thing you can see is your desk with your book, you wonât be tempt to be distracted by anything else. Just your school-work honey.
3. MAKE THE ROOM CHILLY, THEN GET COZY.
OK, have you ever had that feeling in the morning where it is physically impossible to move because youâre wrapped up in like 3 blankets? Thatâs the idea. Now it might be tricky to stay awake, being all cozy, so be careful. BUt to me, once I have all the comfort in the world, there is no reason why I would leave my study desk.
4. HAVE SNACKS READILY AVAILABLE.
This is preferably of course, cause I have a friend who stays hungry while she studies, to make finishing her work more urgent. I find that chewing something keeps me awake, and so a habit was born. (Snack I find tasty: peanuts, popcorn, peanut butter on a spoon, dry cereal, cookies, any non-messy easy food is perfect)
5.TIME YOURSELF.
I always use Forest as time motivation since its so user friendly and slightly addictive (lol). I find that putting myself through strict timing gives me a sense of urgency, rather than just sitting willy nilly and doing whatever. ALSO when iâm on my late night sessions, I set an alarm for every hour, so when my body dozes off, its a sign of a well needed break and Iâll be back at it again the next hour.
6. PENALTIES/REWARDS (SET BY A FRIEND!)
THIS IS VVERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAVE A FRIEND DO IT!!1 YOU WILL BE LENIENT WITH YOURSELF!11!! Trust me, it will make a load of difference. I gave my friend enough money for a cappuccino and say by the end of the week, if I donât complete my assignments, you get to keep my money, but if I do, I treat myself. 100% will not fail.
7. HAVE YOUR LONG TIME GOALS IN PLAIN SIGHT.
You cannot lose sight of your goals. Every time your hard works feel useless, please, remember your purpose.every bit of it is worth it. Just think about your life once you study and succeed. Imagine your stable family, Imagine getting into that Ivy League. (I usually try to imagine the feeling of regret and sorrow if I donât get any As on results day to frighten myself back in line. May not be healthy but it works.
8. TAKE IT ONE STEP AT A TIME.
Thats it for now, but donât be afraid to message me on your thoughts and questions! Love you studyblr community,
