It’s not much but I’m choosing to believe denji even imagining the alternate universe in which he turns down the girl’s advances in a mature and self-aware way is a little bit of character growth and not just some meta joke

This may just be my own interpretation of things, and I could be wrong, but I seriously just cannot turn a blind eye to these chainsaw chapters anymore. Yoshida has got some stuff with him and it feels more and more like he’s the last person Denji should even be around.

Like we have part 1, and then we have part 2.

Both of them are secluded by themselves in the movie theaters during this time, and both chapters hint that Denji may have more in common with Makima and Yoshida than what is being let on.

The only difference is that Yoshida didn’t stick around long enough to finish the whole movie, but there was a notion he had left moments prior that pretty much implied that he wasn’t normal, either.

I feel like there was a deeper implication besides the fact that devil hunters aren’t exactly ‘normal’ themselves.

Almost as if he wouldn’t know because he may not be human himself…

But, before I get sidetracked, back to my first point.

Y’all remember when Yoshida once said that he’d help Denji get a girlfriend? And that he wanted him to come to him if there was anything that he could do?

Every single girl Yoshida has set him up with has been making attempts to kill Denji. (Which isn’t new as per the first part of chainsaw man, but this seems off.)

I mean, Denji literally lost the entirety of his family. All he has now is Pochita, Nayuta, and the dogs—Yoshida one time tried to separate them earlier as if he and the Devil Hunter Association are the only ones that Denji is allowed to trust.

It’s like he is consistently putting Denji into life-threatening situations until Denji will at some point think, “oh, maybe the world is too dangerous, and I do need him to protect me.” and that will just give Yoshida (and the devil hunter association) more access to control him.

I just feel like saying, “I just want to keep you safe and help you live a normal life.” is just a baseline for Yoshida and the organization he works for to mask the true agenda going on underneath. Because I still have yet to see any organization claiming to be beneficial to and for the people (in any way shape or form, period) without some shady business/intentions going on behind closed doors.

I’m just convinced Yoshida’s just setting Denji up and trying to manipulate him for his own gain, but what do y’all think?
