Reading through project hail mary for normal (bloodymary) reasons and now I need to find fics with rocky and simon bonding. Rocky was basically living through his own iron lung-esque journey for years but through space instead of a blood ocean and with radiation instead of a giant eel monster. They would definitely understand each other for better or for worse

#rocky has been going through it for 40-odd years alone. he would 100% understand simon’s situation #whether either of them view this as a good thing is another matter entirely #they may not get along all the time but what they have in common is that grace came and saved them from a life of loneliness/certain death #went into phm for grace/simon and came out with rocky&simon #project hail mary #iron lung

Simon's an engineer by necessity and because the cult Told Him To. Not trained at all. He has basic computer skills but he isn't a nerd about them by a long shot.

I am just imagining Simon developing a backwards-ass way of fixing machinery that isn't conventional in the slightest but still works. Like the equivalent of doing a math problem wrong but getting the same correct answer.

Anyway. Grace sitting in awe as Simon mangles a broken component for 20 minutes, only for it to somehow work flawlessly at the end of a process he can't even begin to try and understand.

Simon's cable management looks like this:

I have the black box data. All of it.

After sifting through hundreds of photos... I have realized that every time Simon takes a photo in the SM-13, he's pulling up a frame to a stop motion animation.

And it can be played back as video.

So, I took each black box photo and compiled them together. You can now watch Simon's entire journey from the SM-13's camera like found footage.

Simon rocking the shit out of that eel!!! Also, for people drawing/writing tree!Simon stuff, it does seem like it has networked to the side of a trench wall and webbed through it.

Yeah, no, that's definitely just a tree. I was going for something a little more fleshy, like maybe a basket starfish/vine shape, but that is, indeed and confirmed, a whole ass tree, trunk and everything.
